Indymom 132 Posted August 15, 2011 I've never had reflux/acid issues (other than the really obvious like when I've eaten a burrito with hot sauce at 3 a.m.). I'm on carafate (I think for 30 days) and on omeprazole for at least a year. I thought I felt a pang of hunger today when I was about 4 hours since b-fast and my Protein. Is it possible that 5 days out I'd feel a bit of hunger, or is it likely acid? I'm really trying to listen to my body but I'm not really sure I'd know the signs of acid overproduction even if I had them.
kellyw74 258 Posted August 15, 2011 I was hungry, but on liquids and not getting anything solid of course I felt hungry. liquids run straight thru and don't stay with us long! Kelly
Indymom 132 Posted August 15, 2011 Good point - most of what I am eating is full liquid (though I am allowed to have cottage cheese and smushed beans). Thanks!

Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted August 19, 2011 You could very well be hungry because it takes awhile for the hunger hormones to completely leave your body after surgery. I was hungry and I had to drink cons.tantly until I moved to mushies
Indymom 132 Posted August 19, 2011 I'm pretty sure it's acid, since I posted this the reflux has kicked up a storm. It's miserable - my throat and mouth constantly has this nasty bitter taste, my tongue is all white and icky . . . I talked to the nurse today and she wants me to add an omeprazole 20 mg at night and also said I can take a Pepcid midday if I want. I'm hoping this works!
