How do I rise from my "FUNK"?

Recommended Posts

I have been really depressed lately. Various reasons, but the bottom line is that it has zapped what little will power I had. I seem to be hungry all the time. It's been 2 months since my last fill, but don't think I need another yet because there are some days that I feel really restricted and can only eat a few bites before I get that PB feeling.

I think most of it is head hunger, or just frustration and I want to use food as my outlet. I'm not sure that hunger is a correct term for what I'm feeling but a constant thought of food. It has been 2 months since I lost any weight. I know it is because of my eating habits and lack of exercise.

I'm not whining........it is totally my fault. I just can't seem to get motivated again. I was doing so good for a while. Now I cringe when my family asks "how much have you lost now?" I'm tired of saying, "I'm on a plateau." I'm getting the response, "Why aren't you losing anymore?" Doesn't the band work? They don't understand that the band is a tool and if the "fool" doesn't use it, he ain't gonna lose it".

Any thought on how to turn my attitude around? I've done all the "pep talks" I can do for myself. I just want to tell me to "SHUT UP" and let me be miserable. Crazy huh?

I'm so glad to have you guys to vent at and bounce my frustrations from. Thanks for being there to listen to my rants.

Have a nice afternoon.

Love ya.

Hey, Ms Vicki. Do some resaerch into the grieving process. Get through the grief over food. The loss is it, or the loss of what it used to do for you that it can't really, now. Not in the same way, anyway. Once you understand what you might be going through, it's a bit easier to move forward.

As for other people, just say "I'm working on it. I have to do this my way. I'm fine. Give me a minute" and let it go. Next time you wonder what they may be thinking, remember that down the road, they will start to see your results. You have the secret, you'll tell it as you go, you are in control of the story and the ending. It's their job to watch, if they are interested.

You'll get there. Dont' worry about others. Take care of you and the funk will slowly fade. You'll wake up one day and think, "wow, I'm not in a funk anymore! how 'bout that!"

Keep us posted!

Mrs. vickie,

Read the first line of your siggy.. That says it all. (You are asking the wrong person for help..... )

ok off my soapbox..

We all go this feeling at some point. First thing you need to do, Go back to the basics. Go back to when you first got the band and do those same things. Second, If your not counting cals. start and log everything. that way you can see in black and white where your going wrong. And lastly get off your bum... move it!!! you can do this and just remember when your on a plat. that also means your NOT GAINING...

Good luck

Vicki, you will do fine. Just remember why you had the surgery in the first place. Eat when you are hungry and use the band for your restriction. You can do this. Just remember we are all here for you. It is difficult, that I know, but you must have faith. Good luck.

Change one little thing each day. If you are not exercising, walk for 10 minutes. If you are eating all the wrong foods, give one of them up each day. You know the routine. food is not our friend. We need to eat to live, not live to eat. You can do this.

Ask god for strength to face your loss, of food as your friend. You will have other friends.

I just wanted to say I know how you feel, and have been there. I also wanted you to know that I've hit this "speedbump" more than once in this journey. I say this, not to discourage you, but to let you know that it can happen, so you won't be derailed by it.

There are so many issues around food. You'll have to figure out what yours are. Don't be afraid. The band will still be there when you are ready to move on again.

Blow off those nosy people. I will give the benefit of the doubt and assume they are well meaning, so just tell them your body has to go through some adjustment phases, and you are not bothered by it. That's all. Nothing is instanteous; besides, you are better off going slow. Educate them, don't be embarrassed or shamed by them.

Have courage!

Cindy

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
