Help

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 6 weeks ago. I started at 202 and am now 178.2. I am obsessed with the scale. I havent budged in a week. I go to the gym daily and walk or jump rope for at least an hour 5 days a week. Desperately trying to eat solids but have such horrible GERD that I find Im not eating very much. Im not sure why the scale isnt moving. Im definitley putting in less than im burning. Any suggestions???

Really don't have any advice.. Cause it sounds like u r doing things right.. Maybe need to eat more cause your body is probably in starvation mode. Your body could be adjusting to what u have lost so far. Wow u have lost good for 6 weeks!!!! Congrats!!! I do just think that sometimes we stall while our bodies catch up! Either don't get on scales but once a week or learn to not let them get u down cAuse they will go up and down with Water weight!! Again Congrats on what u have lost so far!!

It sounds like you are in a "normal" stall. Stalls happen when your body is adjusting to what you have done to it. Typically in a stall, you don't loose weight on the scale, but you probably are seeing your clothing fitting differently. I just had a 1 week "stall" in which every single day I weighed exactly the same - which was a gain of 4 pounds from my low point. Thankfully, the scale is now moving again in the lower direction. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will resolve itself.

Have you been prescribed a PPI for your GERD? If so you may need to change types if it is not working.

Sounds like you are expending a lot of calories and not bringing in too much. So your body is probably in starvation mode. I found the first 2 months were a guessing game as to how much exercise and how many calories and my Water intake to optimize my weight loss. Now that I am further out things are slowing down a bit and I will have to readjust again to boost my weight loss.

My Dr. prescribed a pill that desolves in Water. It helps a little. When I try to eat more I throw up. I only feel good with soft mozzerella cheese, Protein shakes, or Soup. Im almost 7 weeks. Shouldnt I be eating more??? I

If you are not losing, up your calories for a few days. That will get your body to not hold on to everything you are giving it because it wont think it is starving with the extra calories.

I have to up my calories on the days I exercise or I will not lose. Seems kinda crazy to exercise just to eat more!!! Weird, but very true!!

Kelly :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
