Tiffykins 673 Posted August 13, 2011 Have you had any labs pulled lately??? Low Vitamin D and D3 can contribute to cravings for sweets. I would just stock up on Protein packed foods when you want to reach for other junk.
samantha209 19 Posted August 13, 2011 Wow good to know!!! I am due for an appt next month. I will contact my doctor next week and see if he can fit me in sooner. Thanks Tiffy!
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted August 13, 2011 I like sweets too... I try and have Protein Snacks around like Tiffy said, and sugar free pudding with Cool Whip Free help. I use Sugar free hard candy once in a while... and have a tablespoon of chocolate chips with dried cherries or almond butter many nights a week. This seems to get me through. If you mix your sugar with some kind of protein, it helps reduce the insulin spike afterwards. Sometimes if your in an eating rut, plan snacks and avoid all sugar for a few days to get back on track. lsereno 2,525 Posted August 14, 2011 I am a little over month behind you (5/17). I have a sweet Protein drink after dinner every evening. Sure, I would rather have something sweet with no nutrition but the good news is the Protein Drink gets me up to my daily Protein goal (65+) and after I have it, I don't want any other sweets. I switch it up a bit, adding coffee or cinnamon to the French vanilla flavor or sugar free choco Syrup to the chocolate flavor. If that works for you, Eggface has a ton of tasty-sounding Protein drinks too: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Lynda

Pleased with the results...but lately i have been slacking. My sweet tooth is the devil i have good days and bad days. I am not gaining but i know i am slowing my weight loss. HELPPPPPPPP I'm very lucky. I was also sleeved in April but I can't eat sweets at all. I didn't care for them before surgery but now, after ---- yikes. I took 1/2 of a cookie at a grocery store deli one day 3 weeks ago to "test" it and when I got to my car I felt like I could have crawled into the back seat and slept for an hour. I wasn't this way before the surgery but maybe it's just because I've been so long off sugar that I feel it now. I'm glad I'm this way. Do you know how many calories you are getting per day? Do you track everything? Unfortunately, some of this is our same old problems. That's why I believed the sleeve was my answer. Don't like sweets but love salty crunchy. I have found fabulous soy Snacks and I can only hold the 1 ounce bag so it works for me. I only wish they were cheaper and locally available. I find myself eating dust from a soy chip bag about once a week where it was smashed in transit. I'm realizing how lucky I am because for salty/crunchy there are easy, more healthy options. If you are tracking every bite, it at least keeps you aware of where you are so you know just how far off the path you're going. It's not easy that's for sure. Adri 40 Posted August 15, 2011 These have been satisfying my sweet cravings. They are simple and quick, no recipe needed!: -Calcet Calcium Citrate Lemon Chewy Bites (delicious like dessert) -Iced Decaf coffee with splenda and non-fat milk (also counts towards Water goal) -Premier Protein shakes (taste just like chocolate milk to me) -Low carb toast with 100% fruit spread
