When did you feel good post op

Recommended Posts

The rumbling is after I swallow drinks or my sugar free pop

If you're drinking sugar-free soda (pop) the rumbling is probably excess gas. My surgeon and nutritionists said no carbonation or caffeine for quite some time due to the healing process.

:unsure:Hey all ! I was just sleeved on Wed 8/10/11. I had the lap band removed and the sleeve done at the same time. Surgery wasn't the greatest. although the doc say's i did a great job.. i had ALOT of nausea. If i was awake i had nausea.eww My blood Pressure shot up high high.. and heart rate lowlow.. but all is stable and i'm home ! i'm trying to back off of pain pills because they do tend to make me sick to my stomach although knock on wood i have not vomited. I did come home with a drain which Doc said he will be removing on thursday when i have my one week follow up...I'm having a really hard time getting liquids in. What i've been doing because i figured i need some kind of Protein is drinking the carnation sugar free instant Breakfast. It's taking me almost an enitre day to get in 8 -16oz but i'm taking a sip here and sip there. It feels like 2 sips is all i can take before i feel so full i can't stomach it ! i'm constantly napping.. Please tell me this will get better soon !

I was sleeved last Monday too and I was still feeling blah and layed around all day today in my pjs sleeping some of the time. My husband told me not to go to work tomorrow. It was supposed to be my first day back, but I just don't feel like I can. Maybe Tuesday will be better. I'm looking forward to being back to normal too...

Hello I'm Jamee from Texas and I was sleeved on Tuesday . I don't think this is normal but I'm STARVING. When I try and drink my liquids my tummy grumbles and hurts. Is it horrible that I'm looking forward to eating soft solids?

Jamee, Is it stomach hunger? What were your first couple of days like?

Is anyone taking Vitamins? My doctor suggested I go to bariatricadvantage.com where they have assembled nutrition kits to his specifications for first 30 days of post-op. I noticed the same brand in my local independent pharmacy. Has anyone tried these drinks?

DallasMom, you definitely need to be taking Vitamins. There's another thread in this forum that talks about what different people take - but basically you'll need a Multivitamin (some docs recommend more than 1 a day) and Calcium supplement daily, and B12 once weekly. My doc also wants me to take B1 once weekly. If your multivitamin doesn't have Iron then I'm to take an iron supplement as well.

I'll be purchasing all of the Vitamins next week. Thanks for the input. I'll ask about B1.

How is your recovery going? It looks like you just recently had surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
