kimsretro 0 Posted July 13, 2006 I went to the dr today for my first fill. I have the vangaurd band. The dr told me that he is usually aggressive with the first fill and that if I had problems I could come back for an unfill. He put in 5cc not .5, 5 whole CC's. Has anyone else had such a progressive fill right off? I do feel restriction. Kim
JulieNYC 4 Posted July 13, 2006 Absolutely, Kim. My first fill with my VG was 6.2! My doc had put in 4.0 at surgery (the VG needs a little more to make it neutral. He usually puts in 3.0, but my stomach was a little smaller than some). I didn't feel a thing at 6.2. Went back a week later and they took me to 7.6. Felt a tiny something, but really wasn't what I knew "restriction" should be. Went back a week later -- 10.0! Now I'm loving life. I can eat anything, just not too, too much of it and my head hunger has really been dimmed.

disneynut 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Yep, first fill was 4 cc's and the second one yesterday he put in between 2 and 3 cc's more. Sure hope this restriction lasts more than one week like the first one.
Yoda 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Yep, I have the midband and for the midbands the doc always starts at 5ccs for everyone! No worries!
GayleTX 1 Posted July 14, 2006 My first fill was 3.6 with the vanguard; the second was about the same. I was scheduled for another one this week but cancelled because I'm doing fine just as it is.
seminole 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Hello, I have the Vanguard band also and my first fill was 3 cc and I do not have any restriction. After reading everyone elses fill amounts I went to the manufactures information. The first fill for a Vangurad band should be 3cc and after 4-6 weeeks the second fill can be done with about 1.5 cc depending on how your weight loss is going. Check it out !!http://www.allerganandinamed.com/pdf/health/94800-12_LB_Product_Data_Sheet.pdf#search='vanguard%20lap%20band' The fills are done as a direct result of your weight loss. If you are losing 2 lbs per week then the doctor should not give you an adjustment until the weight loss goes under 2 lbs per week. This also goes with the amount of food your eating etc.... Cool.. "Just" Paul 1 Posted July 14, 2006 If it feels OK, and you can eat as prescribed, then it is a good fill. Differnt levels for diff folks. P
