Hello All...

I saw my doc about 2 weeks ago. I will be seeing psych in about 2 weeks. After that I go back to my doc on 9/29/11. Hopefully meet with surgeon on same day. It is my wish that I am sleeved by my bday which is 11/4. I think that would be a great way to begin my personal new year.....So pls send positive thoughts and prayers my way so that I can get my sleeve!!!!! My doc did say that it should only take about 2 weeks for my ins to approve. So I am very hopeful!!

Welcome to the wait game, it is worth every second of hoop jumping and waiting. The time will pass faster than you think and then you are sleeved and on the losers bench. Best wishes and keep us posted on your journey!!!!

I eat, sleep, breath, and think about VSG all of the time! I'm in the 5th month of 6 months of hoop jumping for insurance. My last appt is August 25th. After insurance approves, I have 4 weeks of pre-op meetings & tests. So I've given up on a birthday (10/8) sleeve but hoping & praying for a birthmonth (October) sleeve. Glad to know I'm not alone in this crazy insurance waiting game! My biggest fear is that insurance will deny, then what?

Then APPEAL< APPEAL<APPEAL and don't give up till you get your sleeve. My 6th appointment is Sept 9th and I hate waiting even though I am trying my best to practice sipping and eating slow. Still I hate that the insurance makes you do the hoops. They are gonna pay, why not just PAY all ready. Waiting sucks. Please keep me posted on your progress perhaps we can be sleeve buddies. Good Luck.

I will keep appealing till I get my sleeve. We must stay determined, we want it, we deserve it and the insurance needs to pay for it. We have done the hoops and they need to show the doctors the money. LOL. Keep me posted, maybe we will be sleeve buddies. :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
