Does your sweat smell different?

Recommended Posts

From the first day I was banded I noticed my sweat smelled...well different! At first I thought it was becuase of nothing but Clear Liquids for three weeks and now I am on mushies and it still smells weird. Not to get to personal, but my husband says I even taste different (don't get thinking dirty- when he was kissing my neck):kiss2: He also says I have a different ododr. I thought well is this like ketone breath- had that for a while then I have gotten over that but I went to sea world yesterday and I was shocked how different I smell. What could this be? Am I the only one? Please dont be shy! I really am interested! Thanks!:rolleyes

Well, since no one has answered... I will, and say nope, not me. Stinky as ever. LOL, not really. At least I don't *think* I stink! :( !

Perhaps it's the sweet smell of thin-dom. :clap2:

but I went to sea world yesterday and I was shocked how different I smell.

I think that may have just been the Sea World smell. :pound: just jokin'. I really don't know.

She thought of that already. I would think that once you're a month out, you'd be almost eating normally, and probably not be in ketosis anymore, if you even were before.

I noticed after being banded, I was having an odor problem. I have used Secret all my life, but all of a sudden, it no longer worked. I posted my issue on the board, and got back a lot of answers hearing the same thing. I have since changed to a liquid deodorant / antiperspirant and have solved my problem, but my chemical makeup definitely changed.

Personally....here's my thought. Your body uses fat stores as a place to put...uh..toxins. Trash, leftovers, excess hormones, all of that gunk. It gets there in the fat cells and the space between fat cells. Personally, I think you are on one mofo of a detox right now, your body is getting out gunk. When the body processes "gunk" you see it in the extremities...skin, hair, fingernails, breath. It all seems pretty durn normal to me!

Also....it could be leftover anesthetic and stuff. I smelled funny for a while and it was a medicinal smell. I knew it was my body expelling that stuff.

I have not noticed, or been told of any odor, or difference in how I smell. But like Karen, I have had to change deodorant, after using one brand for many years....I just never related it to the surgery, I figured they changed the formula or something!!! Wow!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
