Please don't set yourself up for disappointment when you stall thinking this surgery is a quick fix to your weight loss. So many people do that and the VSG is a life style change so do not set your goals high and be disappointed. I am going into the VSG knowing this is only a tool and the hard work, determination and success all come from ME. It took 55 years to weigh over 300 lbs and if it takes 1/55th that to lose some I will be very happy. Remember, there are other wins besides the scales. :D

What is your pre-op diet like? Did your doc make you do preop for 2 weeks?

I'm so with you!! I love H&M and I have never been able to fit into their stuff. My little sister is super skinny and we always have to go to H&M when she comes to visit me in San Francisco. Same as you, I can't wait to buy actual clothes and not just accessories!!! I'm on my second day of the pre-op diet and it's thoughts like this that keep me going :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
