I actually have a few questions... I am 3 weeks out and just getting to start the pureed stage. I have cheated a little and had some spaghetti... My question is, I dont know if im eating too much. Like, I eat I guess between 8-12 bites. Most times it doesnt even look like ive ate anything out of my bowl. I have never thrown up from over eating but sometimes I feel uncomfortable for just a few minutes afterward. I dont know, im scared of stretching my sleeve out and like, how long is your stomach healing? I dont want to over do anything I was just absolutely sick of Soups and what not. I guess I am just really scared of messing my new stomach up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It takes about 6 weeks or so for things to heal up.

What I do is measure everything putting only the 2 or 4 ounces on my plate - and then eat with a baby spoon so that I don't eat too fast. This way I know how much I am eating so I can journal it (my dietician wants me to journal daily). I eat until I feel full (most of the time that means I eat until I belch, but tonight it was until I got a tight feeling). If I haven't eaten my entire portion, then I put it in the fridge until my next meal time. I have found some 1/2 cup containers that for storage, as well as some 1ounce and 2 ounce containers too (those are "baby food dishes" - but they don't look like they are for babies - just the outer packaging was). It really helps.

I agree with Nancy - I had to measure everything for the first 3 months. If I tried to eyeball it, I would eat too much and be very uncomfortable. I bought some 1/2 cup tupperware storage cups and would fill the halfway to equal 1/4 cup of food. It looks like nothing, but that is what your sleeve can comfortably handle right now.

Cool thing about tupperware is that I could fill a few of them up and then store them for later, put them in my purse, etc. I alsways had a "legal" snack with me wherever I went.

I am just over two weeks out and I have the same issues. I really don't want to measure everything and eat with a baby spoon unless I absolutely have to. I would rather be able to just tell when enough is enough. So, we will see.

I have never felt full or had pain from eating (3wks out now). I am really careful to keep to my 2 oz of food. I bought some demitasse spoons instead of baby spoons, they look slightly more adult. My problem is that I drink too fast. Before surgery I would drink 4 liters of soda a day. I live in Las Vegas, so hydration in the summer is critical. Any suggestions to slow down the drinking? I try to think sip, sip, sip and I only use a little juice glass, but before I know it my 4 ounces is gone in 5 minutes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
