So I had my vsg on 6/2/11. I am 10 weeks post op tomorrow. I was never to happy with the weight loss. I was losing 5lbs a week for the first 8 weeks, last week I only dropped 3lbs and this week only 1lb so far! So disappointed :(

Do not be disappointed!!!!..looking at your post you have lost 44 lbs in 2 months....That is a lot of weight! Where can you do that any diet plan? There will be times that you weight loss will slow to give time for your body to catch up. My nut always said 1-3 pounds a week in the beginning was a good. You are doing AWESOME!

I know we all wish that we could 30 lbs a month, but for most of us, that is not realistic. I was kind of disappointed a few months after surgery because I really never lost more than 10 pounds a month. I lose about 2 lbs a week... but after 5 months, that has added up to a lot of weight. As long as you are losing, you are doing great. Keep going and you'll be where you want to be before you know it!

Really? Sorry, but no sympathy from me. You are doing great! I am lucky to be losing 2lbs a week at this point, but I'm not complaining. We will get there.

I had my surgery on 6/8/2001 and hit 37 lbs today. I too am a littlet frustrated but keep in mind those that lose fast are losing Water and it can be harmful to lose weight too quickly. Just eat right and excercise and don't get frustrated. You are doing good. We all are :)

Hi, Rocky! You are doing great! I am just 2 months postop and have lost 35 pounds. Your body has to adjust to the new dietary needs. If you take your liquids, do your supplements with Protein and Vitamins, exercise, and follow the rules, you will lose the weight. I think smaller losses consistently is far healthier than the huge losses that is mostly Water weight instead of fat. Do not beat yourself up! Look at what you have accomplished now in relation to where you were before you had surgery--the difference is daunting in a good way!! :rolleyes:Ronda

Rocky, you're seriously doing awesome!! You just need continued patience - you don't get to have the surgery and then wake up skinny straight away! wink.gif

LOL ... That reminds me of my son ... He was so excited to see me when I got home & had a very disappointed look on his face when he saw me. He was positive I was going to come home skinny!:rolleyes::P

You are doing fine! One day at a time, one victory at a time.

You're kidding right? That's huge! It won't continue at 5 lbs a week and it shouldn't!

1-2 lbs a week is very healthy. Keep up the great work!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
