Leslie Sansone DVD's

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone used the Leslie Sansone DVD's? Are they worth it?

I'm just starting out and need something "gentle" at first. With the heat and humidity, I can't walk outside and absolutely HATE the malls. I know I need to start walking more, and was thinking of trying these.

I have used them before and I really enjoyed them. You take them to the level that you want. I totally recommend them...

I have always used her videos. I always liked them and whenever I would start to exercise, that was always the first one I would go to. She tells you in the videos if you need to take it easy, you can.

I used the initially, my mom loves them, and I found a 3 set of them for $10 bucks in the bargain/clearance bin at a Books-A-million store. I've seen them at Borders as well in the bargain bins. Amazon and ebay have gently used versions if you want to pay less.

That's what I did for my Hip Hop Ab collection.

I tried one for a while. While I enjoyed the exercise, I couldn't take the constant, cutesy chatter. She can be incredibly annoying. Maybe they're not all like that. Maybe it's just me.

I got the "Start! Walking at Home" DVD that has a 20 minute "gentle walk" that is about 1 mile and a 30 minute brisk walk that is about 2 miles today. I just tried the 20 minute gentle walk - and while I did the full 20 minutes - I couldn't do all of the steps, but that's ok, I'll work up to it. I'm gonna try to do this at least every day this week. Hopefully then I'll be able to do the whole workout. Then I'll add doing it a second time each day. I hope that's not pushing it too much...

A million times YES!!! They are literally the ONLY dvd workouts that I can do. She has a million of them out there so you will never get bored. I personally prefer the Walk away with the Pounds ones but she has a ton of others. She even has two 10 minute ones on youtube for free ( or she used to). I started out doing 30 seconds. That was it. Then the next day I did 30 more seconds. And I kept adding 30 seconds a day until I finally made it all the way through the 20 minute 1 mile walk. I am only 2 months out from my surgery and I now do the 1 mile walk every day. It didn't take too long to build up. I'm a huge Leslie fan!

there are physical reasons that i can't do basic cardio like eliptical, i was able to do it til a year ago. can't run around

or anything like that. but can to treadmill slowly - and can do leslie video slowly (try to work up a little bit) hopefully

2 times a day - at least 4x a week.

since i'm limited in excercise, will the above be significantly (msp) enough to be considered "proper" amount of

excercise - and be beneficial.

i know doing something is better than nothing, but will it help, i know others do so much more.

any reply will be great - thanx kathy

I have a bunch of her DVDs and overall I like them. Some are definitely better than others -- check the reviews on Amazon.com to get a flavor for what people like and don't like. I just got her "5 Really Big Miles" DVD (with resistance band) and like it best of all (it's got better music than usual). I didn't particularly like the "Five Mile Fat Burning Walk" one but have it in occasional rotation.

The steps are easy to follow, she is lively, she usually has a fun cast, and the time seems to go fast. I think she is a very likeable person and that definitely helps.

I've done her videos so many times that I decided it couldn't be that hard to devise my own step routines to do while listening to my ipod ... LOL I was wrong! I didn't appreciate her skill as an instructor until I tried to make up my own routines.

I have one of the walkaway dvds. The other one somehow gotten lost and my mother brought a new one. It was the 1-4 mile walk. I'm able to do the 1 mile, but then the other miles gotten a little harder. I'm sticking to the one mile for now until I'm able to do the other ones.

And yes, her workout are very good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
