Disney 20 Posted August 9, 2011 That's normal. It really depends on how much you weighed when you had surgery. The higher the weight, the faster the loss. The first month will be the most, then it will start slowing down. Again, though, that will depend on how much you needed to lose. It may take several months to slow down if you had a lot to lose. Someone with a higher BMI generally loses faster than someone with a low starting BMI. A lot also depends how "on program" you are.

dargar27 2 Posted August 9, 2011 Hi, I lost 15 pounds my first week, then nothing for a good week and a half. I started losing again around week 3 1/2 and have been pretty steady at around 2 pounds per week ish. I also consume around 800 - 1000 calories per day. Hope this helps! im 6 days out of surgery and lost 8.6 pounds so far.....is that a good number? what have u lost per week? im just trying to gage this, lol my hubby thinks im loosing to fast? i lost most of it in the last 4 days..Thanks

dargar27 2 Posted August 9, 2011 Sounds like you are doing great! Two pounds a week is good, healthy weight loss. I keep wishing it would go faster too, but my head knows two pounds per week is awesome. i was just wonering the same thing i am 5 weeks out and down 24 pounds, feeling like i should be losing more, i lost 16lbs the first week then only 8 the other 4??? i couldnt stomach any Protein though and was eating mainly cheese, so i am thinking that probably was why. i am trying to eat chicken and other lean Proteins now and make sure i watch my calories per day
amandaRN 1 Posted August 9, 2011 I lost 10 pounds or so the first week and by week 2 i had lost 20 pounds. Then I plateaued a whole week and lost nada about week 3 which I hear is common and got VERY frustrated because i also FELT WORSE the third week than any other week, but I have since lost 5 more pounds and tomorrow is 4 week anniversary. My nurse educator told me to expect to loose 15-20 pounds fast and easy and NOT to expect it to continue that the first 20 is Water weight and a healthy sustainable weight loss after is 1-2 pounds week if I get my Protein in like I should. Once in awhile I will lose more, but not to try too. My surgen said if you lose too much to fast with bad nutrition or just have bad nutrition in general theskin and hair issues will start. My hair has not started thinning yet and try very hard to get all my Protein in first via supplements and any protein after that comes from my food, and is usually minimal because I still can barely eat 1/4 cup at a time. 1 egg tops me off very well. Good luck and try not to get too obsessed with the numbers!
