FloraBama Girl 116 Posted August 7, 2011 My doctor signed the 6 months diet history sheets, the letter of medical necessity and referral to bariactric surgergy on July 08. I went to Flager Hospital Bariactric Seminar on July 14. Every requirement the surgeon's office has asked from my PCP has been quickly completed. This has made a huge difference in getting my tentative sleeve surgery date of August 24. I propably would have insurance approval by now but I was in the process of the pyschologist evaluation and that has been the delay in filling for insurance. I just wanted people to know if you have been with your doctor for a while and have been struggling with your weight it doesn't take years or a lot of months to complet this process. I have Cigna *** insurance and Dr. Robert T. Marema is my surgeon. Huge Alabama football fan and can't wait for the new season to start.
Khy 16 Posted August 7, 2011 Yes it is very helpful to have your PCP on board. That is one reason I changed PCP's. I just did not want to struggle with the old one who was not supportive yet was always commenting on my weight. Khy
Kami 9 Posted August 9, 2011 I have the same surgery date as you! I think there's 5 or 6 of us on that date. Come over to the August Sleevers section and say hi http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/106-august-2011-sleevers/ I hope the rest of your approval process goes well! My surgeon's office wouldn't even schedule me until after my approval, and then they got sloppy and slow and I got my date a full month after my approval (with the surgery schedule for a month after I got the date)
