Gazelle vs. Treadmill

Recommended Posts

Ok Guys, I am in the market for some excercise equipment. I know i love a treadmill, but i was wondering about the gazelle. I have heard it is fun to use and everything, just would like your opinions and personal experiences on all kinds of home equipment. Thanks JJ

I'd always go the treadmill, its the only thing I know I'd use consistently.

I think its because for me walking/jogging are natural motions, I dont have to think about them. I dont have to make an effort to keep up speed or resistance either, so I can concentrate on other things while I use it as the treadmill itself sets the pace. I always use an incline to more approximate outside jogging, at least 2 or 3.

Studies have shown the treadmill to be the most efficient fat burner, and the most used equipment our of all cardio machines.

Hello,

I have both and with the tredmill you get more of a workout. The gazelle is more low impact. I like the gazelle better personally.

I'd find a big rabid dog to chase me down the street. THAT's motivation.

:) :heh:

JJinLA,

Try it out for 30 days and then decide. I mean, buy a Gazelle on QVC. They have a 30 day, no hassle, money back guarantee on all their products. I just saw them advertising The Gazelle yesterday and it was cheaper than in the stores - even counting the S & H. If you don't like it, for any reason, you return it to QVC and they give you your money back. They even give you a UPS return label so all you have to do it pack it back up and call UPS for pick up. Easy.

That's what I'd do if I were you.

If anyone had asked me two years ago if I'd EVER watch or buy anything from QVC I would have said they were nuts. I buy stuff from them pretty regularly now. Love the money back guarantee.

I had a gazelle..the deluxe model...can't remember its name, but I think a treadmill is more versatile. There are things you can do on a gazelle and they do include a dvd with options, but you will soon want to run, speed up your walks, inclines, etc, and it is my opinion that a treadmill is better. In fact, if you opt to not get a treadmill, look into an elliptical. I really like those a lot better than a gazelle. I gave mine to my sister after just a short time of having it. I thought it was boring

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
