I have recently been doing a lot of research on different Coordinators and have read a ton of posts about their deal. Why is there so much animosity between these folks? I was working with one gal and fell in love with her. She answere dmy questions quickly and helped me tremendously. Than I deal with the actual Doctor's coordinator and feel slightly dissapointed! I get none of my questions answered and actually feel scolded when I dont understand what they mean and have to ask again. I shouldn't feel this way as I'm the one paying for services. I was told b they the Dr's assistant to ignore the other coordinators as they knew nothing about what they were doing! I'm s confused. Do I stick with nice and thorough coordinator or go with the "Dr's assistant" and feel slighted?

This is difficult to answer, but I did go with my drs assistant/coordinator, because I knew she would be the one actually there in MX with me. I did have moments of confusion or feelings that all my questions weren't being answered in email at one point, but then I realized how busy she stays taking care of the patients that were currently there(even the ones that used other coordinators). I found communication to be best by phone. Once I was there in TJ, there was no doubt she was very caring and would do anything she could to help me out or make me comfortable. I am not even sure who you are talking with or which dr, but please feel free to read a detailed account of my experience in the "about me" section of my profile.

Good luck!

:)

Thanks for the reply! I have been researching 3 different doctors and have ran into these problems with two of them. I have actually been leaning towards your surgeon! I've seen wonderful things about him and havent had half the hassles as I have with the others! ;)

Hi,

This doesn't sound good. I know you have picked the doctor of your choice. So they should be treating you with nothing but respect. Maybe ask if there is someone else to talk to. I would NOT stand for being treated like this if it were me. This is your money and your are THEIR EMPLOYER. You shouldn't have to deal with this kind of stuff. Maybe you need to let someone at this clinic or hospital how you are being treated. I wish you better luck in the future.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
