I am having an issue with Water. I am drinking okay, but I find now I can not stand the taste of Water. I used to love to drink water, I loved the taste. Now every time I take a drink, it makes me want to vomit.

Does this go away or do I need to find some other way to get my water intake in?

And are there others out there who have had dramatic taste changes? Right now water is the only thing I know about since I am just now moving to mushies. Just want to know what I might be instore for.

Thanks,

Sheila.

I like iced tea with splenda and lime juice. Also SF popsicles. And the usual crystal lights. You can mix a lemonade crystal light with tea to make an Arnold Palmer. Don't forget bouillon cubes to make a decent cup of broth. Try a few things and I'm sure you'll find something besides plain Water.< /p>

My Nut told me that many sleevers can not tolerate plain Water post op. No reason why given. I could not stand plain water before, so I usually drink diet rasberry snapple or lipton diet white rasberry tea most of the time.

Thanks everyone. I thought I was crazy that I couldn't drink Water. It is nice to know I am not the only one out there. I think for now I am going to make mild lemonade with splenda to get my intake. Seems to be going well so far.

You guys are great!!!!

Sheila

Have you tried bottled Water instead of the tap? My tap water tastes awful but the other is fine. I also use sugar free syrups in my water instead of crystal light, 1.5 ounces replace same amount of water in 1/2 litre bottle - not as sweet. I'm finding that sweet now tastes "sweeter"; sickening. Good luck.

Yes. I usually drink Dasani bottle water. I had hubby go out and purchase some for me because I thought I could drink it. Turned out I was wrong. It is just the taste of the water right now I can't take.

Thanks.

Sheila

I used to love Water. Now it's just nasty and hits my stomach like a rock. Like other people said, other liquids go down better. I'm about 6.5 months out and water, if it's filtered and very cold is getting better. So weird.

I have never liked Dasani Water - it has a nasty taste in my opinion (even before the surgery). The bottled water I drink is either Ice Mountain or Nestle Pure Life. Any other bottled water doesn't taste good to me - but those two I really like and can drink them plain.

I had the same problem with Water, it tasted terrible the first few months. I also hate surgar free stuff. What worked for me was mixing a little bit of fruit juice with the water just enough to change that weird flavor. Now I'm fine with water but I don't drink enough.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
