I've been in kind of a dream world where I eat pretty much whatever I want. I wasn't measuring or anything because it's not like I could get that much down the hatch. I avoided the obvious dangers - fast food, Cookies, cake, etc. but beyond that I didn't have any rules. I am convinced that my weight loss will slow down any minute now and when that happens I'll probably wig out and figure that I need to start counting calories.

What's everyone else's approach?

No, I need to though. My weigh hasn't changed in over a week and I've been eating out. No restriction right now but first fill on the 26th.

I keep loose track of my carb count (20g or less per day), but for the most part I just eat when I'm hungry, and stop eating when I'm full. I also make sure to get 60+ gm Protein. I stall when I don't meet that number. I try to keep my protein:carbs as close to 80:20 as possible -- I have mixed success. Soon I will have to start counting fat grams because that's showing up as a real weakness for me... they're so soft, and don't ever have to come back up. :)

MY GOAL is to do 300-400-500 (lunch-breakfast-dinner). I generally try to stay around 1200 but also am thrilled if I am below 1500. (As this often does not happen). That usually means: 150 calorie shake for 1st bfast then later 130 calorie cottage double. 300 calorie lunch-smart one or similar and popcorn (100 calorie bag) then 500 for dinner to have a little more fun.

HAVE to count calroies...it also tells me when I am emotional eating. I finally figured out why I was having really bad binges at night. I had awful anxiety. COunting my calroies helped me figure out my 'bad' times and helped to figure out what the heck was going on.

I voted no but I'm sure I'd get faster results if I did.

I plan to finish off by counting calories, I know I'm going ot have to get those last 10 kg off.

I count most calories. I count anything that's not a condiment, unless the condiment has more than 20 cals per serving. That way I'm just counting the big stuff, but I know I eat about another 100-150 cals per day in sauces, etc. My way makes me feel like I'm accountable but not obsessive with calorie counting. It works for me now, at least. It's subject to modification!

I count mine EVERY day, even the few days when I have too many. I want to keep myself accountable for this.

Calories / Fat / Protein

And I track my exercise.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
