Me too. Also if I eat too fast or if my tummy just doesn't like what I had. My stomach actually bunches up and I have to put on something looser or undo my pants till it passes. Twice, I have also spit up a large quantity of foamy stuff and once I threw up- which was actually quite a relief because I immediately felt better.

Oh yep! I have them too. I get them still if I drink a sip of Water (I am 9 days post op). I don;t have an answer. My doctor says that some of us just have more sensitive stomachs than others.

My doctor puts his patients on Levosin (gave me 150 of them and you can take them every 4 hours) for the first couple weeks/months to help it calm down if you need them. They really helped the first couple of weeks. I think by about week 4 I was almost off of them. You might want to ask! Some days I would wake up and my stomach was just "fussy". Guess it was healing. It does get better. The med just relaxes your tummy. I laughlingly said it felt like a snake was thumping around in there......esp right under my boobs!

Hope this helps!

Yes! Mine has actually stopped since I started taking 2 prilosec a day. It felt like a cramp right between and right below my boobs and I could feel it all the way around to the middle of my back. It would literally take by breath away. I'm 3 wks out and after 2 wks I didn't feel it anymore.

I actually went to the ED because of stomach spasms. They rehydrated me, did a CT with contrast, and discovered the contrast still sitting in my esophagus. The gave me Reglan and said the motility (downward movement) in my esophagus had not returned fully. The Nurse Practitioner said it was reflux. I have been taking the Reglan and feel much better. Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
