Hi Everyone!

I had my sleeve on Monday and so far all is going good. I was released from the hospital on Tuesday after passing a swallow test and taking/keeping fluids down.

The first night i was home, i got in the bed for about 3 hours. I decided i did not like it as much as i thought i would and moved to the couch. I felt much better on the couch and it was very easy to get up and down from here.

It is strange when you start drinking again. Sips are micro sips you will learn quickly - it is true, gas X stips are your best friend and as soon as you think you have this mastered, you get to day 3 and it ALL is just got so much better!

I'm not sure if swelling went down in my sleeve or if i did a bunch of walking (as was instructed) so that i helped relieve the swelling and stiffness of my stomach and abdomen -- I really do not know why, but today is "rounding the bend"! :D

Today has been just great! Don't get me wrong, i am on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks post op so my "greatness" is that i can move easily, shower with out a problem and curl up in my bed with no issues. I have been able to get a good portion of my liquids down today, but that is saying i am hydrated not that i have taking all the protien i need to.

So, i guess my take away is that i loved today after the last few days and i will hope that it just keeps getting better from here forward. I can honestly say, it was not that bad but it did have it's moment! LOL

I'll check back in again tomorrow and see i make the protien requirements! I am dreaming, but i am going to try tomorrow for the first time to make it happen with Isopure.

For those of you still waiting for your surgery, take your pain medication, get up and walk as often as you can and know that each day gets easier.

i will be happy to answer any questions about my experience as we go through this life change together.

:P

So glad to hear you're doing well! My surgery is in 11 days and I've got that anxious, nervous, excited, scared thing going on inside. Makes me feel so much better to hear such a positive report!

Trust me on this...if you think that went well just wait until you loose some major pounds. I never thought I was the kind of person that minded being heavy. Well I sure am enjoying people noticing and saying, "What has changed you look great!" Which is happening on an almost daily basis. Not that I want to ever be skinny - just don't want to be the fatest girl in the room - you know what I mean? Congratulations on getting through the first part of the journey - there are GOOD THINGS TO COME! CONGRATS AGAIN!

Keep on drinking - that is the hardest part for the first couple of weeks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
