:clap2: To all the members of this terrific group-THANK YOU! I started asking dorky questions in April and now I have my surgery date! August 4th will be my new birthday!

You all have been patient, informative, fun and gracious. I've freaked out and you gave me strength and hope. I've asked crazy questions that to a seasoned bandster would seem slightly insane but you all have answered with patience and humor.

To the moderators-you run a wonderful board. As an ex list moderator I know how hard it is. You sure can't please everybody at all times!

I'm not going anywhere so this isn't ciao. I just wanted to know I don't take LBT for granted and to say thanks.

This board has given me advice and information I couldn't have gotten anywhere else including my doctors.

So I am on my way-making my list of foods/drinks/vitamins etc. I am both scared and excited!

My surgery is 6:30 am. I just hope the surgeon is awake!!!!

The very best information I got from this site was "your shoulder hurts because it is gas.....be sure to have xxtra strengh gas x at home after surgery" and "walk walk walk"

Now I see that people say to clean yorself out by using citrate magnesium before surgery and that will keep down on the gas.

Thanks LBT

Best Wishes Diva

Thanks guys-I am writing down the hint about the citrate magnesium now to add to my ever growing list of "to buy".

Love you all

His tee time is 7:30 am so the good news is you won't be in the O.R. very long so he won't be late.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
