flowermama 0 Posted August 4, 2011 H-I I am new to this site and am hoping to have a surgery date in Oct. anyway, my surgeon wants me on a progestin only form of birth control as I have had a pulmonary embolism in the past. It seems like the options are IUD-, depo shot,-Implanon and mini pill. I dont like that the mini pill has to be taken at the same time every day within a couple hours to be effective. Anyone have experience with the other options?
SouthernSleever 228 Posted August 4, 2011 I had a PE back in 2003 and I went with the copper (no horomones) IUD and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
FlyGirl 18 Posted August 4, 2011 I had 3 clots after my surgery in my mesinteric veins. The doctors first thought it was due to the bc pill but then later after many tests they found out I have antiphospholipid anitbody syndrom. I'm not allowed any hormons so I'm going to go with the copper iud called Paragard. There are not many options for hormone free bc, unfortunatly.
Sheenan 0 Posted August 4, 2011 I am the same as you. I've never really been on bc until April when I tried depo I hated it, it messed my body up so bad. I have skin problems in that area so I don't want up use anything there, so I was thinking about the mini pill but I'm horrible at taking pills. Do you know if the mini pill causes wait gain?
