Do protein shakes count toward your needed fluid intake for each day?

I was wondering if the Protein Shakes count toward your needed Fluid intake for each day?

Under by doctor's diet they do count towards the total amount. My goal is 64 oz per day.

Yes, virtually any Fluid does, as long as it doesn't contain too much salt or caffeine - which might make it a diuretic - it counts.

Agree - my doc says any non-carbonated, sugar-free and caffeine-free fluids count - including Decaf coffee and tea, milk, etc.

Really?! My place says that the Protein Shakes do NOT count. They want me to drink my Protein shakes plus 64 oz of non-caloric Fluid per day. Guess everyones doctor is different lol. I'm still pre-op tho, maybe they will change that opinoin after my surgery but I highly doubt it.

My doc actually says that its a debate amongst a lot of doctors in the field but he says he counts it toward the total intake of fluids. He told me that in the stage where you are drinking your Protein there really is only so much you CAN drink in a day with the sleeve. I was really worried because there wasn't a snow balls chance in hell I was going to get 60 grams of protein (4x 11 oz drinks) and 64 oz of other liquids in and believe me I tried up until I talked to him at my 2 week appointment.

Yes, I have always been told they definitely count!! Along with all the other things previously posted, even meds!!
