gettingpissed 0 Posted August 3, 2011 Just spoke with the Dr. today and I only have one, yes one month to go and then I can be given my surgery date. I had some trouble since my original surgeon took off to the east coast. The new surgeon was really pushing for the xyz surgery over the sleeve, until today he finally agreed to do the sleeve. One more visit to the therapist, one more weigh in, then I'm off to slim's vill!!!!!!!!! Damn thing is I can't find some of those (a bunch) food logs, damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! missmelissa84 0 Posted August 4, 2011 He's the nicest surgeon I have ever met. Dr. David Podkameni. I had the same issues! My original doctor was Dr Podkameni too and he told me at my last weigh in appointment in April that he was moving to the east coast and wouldnt be doing my surgery. Finally got my surgery date after a long delay because of him moving. I will have my surgery on 8/29! Congrats on finally completing the process! and Good luck in you weight loss journey! Hi GeLu and Congratulations for getting your surgery date for the Sleeve Gastrectomy! I remember when I finally received my date -- which is October 17th. I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I could now begin to plan the rest of my life. Everything felt like it was on "hold" for more than a month. I still have nutritionist and therapist appointments at the Weight Loss Clinic as well as a group meeting, but I think I need that -- at least the therapist and group. I must admit that I am not crazy about my nutritionist. Anyway, Best of luck to you, and I will look forward to following your success!!
Khy 16 Posted August 7, 2011 Why was he pushing for "xyz" surgery? Does he have experience doing the sleeve? Khy
gettingpissed 0 Posted August 7, 2011 Why was he pushing for "xyz" surgery? Does he have experience doing the sleeve? Khy Yes he has most of his experience in the xyz surgery, but the sleeve is a close second. His concern has to do with regaining weight and resolving other health issues like type 2, high lipids ect. As he tells it weight gain is about 8-10% with the xyz surgery as opposed to 15% with the sleeve. Truly I just want to be done with this and get on to living instead of existing!!!!! I understand about the whole NUT thing, I've only met with mine once. I was opposed to therapy not so much now. The thing that struck me as odd, as per my therapist is that most people who have WLS develope a sort of "resentment" towards some people that used to treat them poorly when they where heavy, but now treat them rather well. I can understand the frustration, your the same person just lighter, how can someone treat another so poorly because they are obese? Sometimes people suck i guess.....
