10 pound gain at week 15???

Recommended Posts

Well as I have said before have been a very "slow loser" during this process but come on?? A 10 pound gain OMG!!! I was crying I don’t know what to do so right now I am on day 3 of the 5 day pouch test. I am getting super depressed I am starting to think this posses is not working as I expected and kind of regretting my decision against bypass. I know don’t judge. Any advice or words of encouragement will be appreciated.

A ten-pound gain in a week? What are you eating? Are you pre-menstrual? Taking some kind of new medication? It sounds like your body is holding onto Water if you have gained 10 lbs in a week.

Over what period of time did this gain occur? Has your sodium intake increased?

As asked above, how much time did it take you to gain 10 Lbs? By the sound of it, it was spurned on pretty quickly. If that is the case, it can only be Water retention. If you're doing the 5 day pouch test you're probably intaking a lot more sodium due to the broths or Soups. You're probably holding every ounce of Water you consume right now.

If you're trying to get back on track, I suggest just low carbing it for 5 days (protein only) rather than the pouch test.

Good luck!

I agree with all the above. Did something change in your diet? Low carbing does work really well too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
