no regrets. I haven't lost any weight for about a month (nor have I gained), but it's starting back in its downwad spiral. I had my mother-in-law visit us and (I confess) I've been stress eating at work. But I'm getting it under control and things that have been stressing me are starting to resolve themselves.

I'm down 45 lbs as of today and I feel great! I do need to start excercising but it's so hot!

I was sleeved on May 3rd and have lost 43 pounds as of today (Friday is my weigh in day). 5ft 1/2 inch tall and starting weight was 230.

With the exception of the first 2 weeks after surgery when, like many others I struggled with getting in enough fluids, I have done very well adjusting to my "new relationship with food". I would estimate - truthfully that I am about 85% compliant with following the program of eating protien first, no drinking with meals, taking Vitamins, etc...

I just turned 51 and am convinced this surgery saved me from an early grave and has put me on the path to the life I have been hoping for. I am a MawMaw to 3 precious grandkids and what can I say...I want to live, to be able to keep up with them running around at the park, to swim with them, ride bikes, walk on the beach at night with flashlights looking for "critters", and someday watch them with their babies. Before this surgery the chances of those things happening were not looking so good.

Getting insurance approval and scheduled for surgery was a breeze for me - I almost feel guilty about it when I read some of the stories on this site. I went to an education meeting on February 28th, 2011 and went into surgery on May, 3rd, 2011...but I work at the hospital where I had the surgery and we are self insurared so...I was very lucky and had alot of support from people who were in a position to help make this happen for me so quickly.

While I won't pretend this has been easy it has been the solution to my life long struggle to lose weight. Would not change this, would do again, would reccommend to others who are struggleling as we all have.

I have to give a shout out to HICKORY GIRLS FITNESS (check them out - Google / Facebook ). Props to them for how amazing and energetic I feel - their intense workouts are AMAZING - LOVE IT!!!!

Hey guys! I am down 55 pounds since my surgery on May 2nd. I haven't had any regrets or complications at all. I haven't puked yet thank god, although I have been very close to it a couple of times when I felt the food was stuck. I have been feeling great! And I love my sleeve.

Hi;

I was sleeved may 9th; down 47 lbs, and feeling great. I have placed in a 5k (near the back is a place :) , I am 2 lbs away from officially not being obese, and I just bought a wardrobe full of size 10 / Medium clothes to last me for the next few months (Thank god for consignment stores!).

The most amazing part is, I feel absolutely normal. I ate lunch with a friend today; I had a 3 oz salad with chicken, Spinach and Feta (also love the $2 lunches at the salad bar :); my friend had 5 times the amount of food - but it took us the same time to eat, and I would bet we were equally full. Before surgery I was warned by foolish friends that I "Would never eat a full meal again - the horror!". Well, I can eat a full meal now - it's just that my definition of a full meal has changed :).

As a side note, my husband was ambivilent, but he really seems to like having me back at the size I was when he met me 17 years ago. He does miss "the girls" in their previously huge glory, though :)

Sleeved May 26th. About a week after surgery I got a blood clot on the mesenteric vein of my small intestine and was hospitalized for 3 1/2 weeks. Evidently this is a very very rare complication from *any* abdominal surgery. Come to find out after several tests that I have a genetic predisposition to blood clotting (Protein C deficiency). My surgeon said having the complication probably saved my life (undiagnosed Protein C deficiencies lead to blood clots that kill over 200,000 people a year in the US alone). So do I regret having the surgery? No way! Down 71 pounds to date and 39 pounds from my goal.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
