Hi everyone,

I have been reading all the great info on this site for days. My surgery is scheduled for May 21st. I have my plane tickets and now I am just waiting for the day. Getting real close, a little nervous but I have to tell you. Reading all these forums has helped me tremendously. You are all such great support, I am so glad I found this site.

Weight has been a issue in my life for as long as I can remember. I finally feel that I have found something that will truly work. And all of you have only confirmed that for me.

My wonderful supportive husband of 29 years is accompany me to Mexico, my surgeon is Dr. Lopez. which after reading the forums I am very happy with my choice.

I would just like to say thank you to all of you, you are wonderful people and such a comfort to all of us not yet banded but soon to be. Thanks again!!!

Hi Athykay -- Good luck with surgery. Pre-surgery, to me, was the scariest time of all. My nerves were rattled! You'll be back on the boards telling us how great everything went before you know it. And get ready to chase that precious Jaden around a lot more than you used to!

I was going to say that I have the before surgery jitters myself, but really, I don't. I don't know if I'm in denial or just so ready! I'm sure as I get closer still my nerves will kick up! 36 days to go!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
