Kettle Bells

Recommended Posts

Hiya all...

At my boxing gym there is a lot of talk about kettle bells and the great results they give. Just wondering if anyone has tried them and how good they are? I've looked into buying some with the DVD and the initial out lay, I feel, is a little pricey... but worth it if they are as good as I've heard.

Thoughts....

I love kettlebells but I hate Kettleworx. If you're doing a ****** on the right arm for example, that exact sequence with the same irritating comments will be repeated next time which is REALLY IRRITATING!!! It's just a cut and paste set of DVDs and I just can't bring myself to use that DVD set.

10 Minute Solution - Ultimate Kettlebell Fat Burner is a lot more doable. Reviewers complain that a real KB isn't used in the workout which is true, but if you have one then there's nothing to stop you using one and if you don't have one you can just use whatever weights you do have.

The 10 Minute DVD has 5 workouts and if you're really keen you can do all 5 workouts for a 50 minute session! cool.gif

Thank you... I will look into it! Today at training, the trainer has lent me a DVD and kettle bell for a 'test drive'! Not sure which one it is, but I will have a little peek tonight and give it a go tomorrow... has to go back to the gym for Thurs though!

I like try before you buy...lol! =]

Hi Coops, I just read your quote of what I put and I can't believe it put stars. I put something like 'if you're doing a repetition on the right arm'. Actually I think I just remembered it was a sn@tch. According to Urban Dictionary it's a term for referring to "the human female's genitals".

Just learnt something new LOL! tongue.gif

I have used Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred It with Weights (I think that's right). I use a Tonex KB which is plastic, not quite as heavy as the original KB, but quite affordable. The workout is doable and Jillian isn't all scary, but man was I sore after completing it. Also I did the work out pre-surgery. I'm just a over a week out, so I can't get back to it just yet.

I purchased my KB from Marshall's or TJ Maxx.

Hi Everyone,

I have been doing the Kettleworx workout for 6 weeks I have one more day to complete the program. I do agree the guy is a little goofy but then again I kind of find all of the dvd's a little goofy after a while.

I love this program both my husband and I have been doing it faithfully for 6 weeks now and I can honestly say that my waist is whittiling away and my arms and legs are really showing improvement.

We are going to do the same program for 6 more weeks and then jump up to the advanced program. I started with the 5 pound weight but have moved up to a 7 pound weight and hope to finish out the second cycle at a 10 pound weight.

The first couple workouts are a killer on your legs, but am I have progressed it has gotten better, much better. I can actually touch my legs and nothing jiggles,

I LOVE IT!!

Lyn

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
