Primary Care Doctor W. Houston

Recommended Posts

My current doctor is not supportive in the Lap-Band procedure. I have been qualified by Dr. Speigel and am looking for a primary care doctor that supports my views or I will go self pay.

My insurance is First health.

Any west-siders that can give me their doctors names, would help my search. I pulled a list from my insurance, but its like playing the lottery. Already wasted 1 yr on my current doctor for her to give me the run around. (She's just as big as me).

Feel free to pm me.

Dr. Spiegel's office will help you with that one. I needed cardio clearance and they had several recommendations. Good luck.

If not Spiegel, try calling and asking the doc's nurse their protocol on approving lapbanding. Should get a feel of how helpful they will be.

Good luck.

I had the same situation with my pc. Dr. Spivak referred me to a doctor at Park Plaza hospital and also negotiated a reduced fee because the doctor was not in network. Ask you lap band doctor for a referral so you don't have to hunt and peck.

This doc is great--a big supporter of bariatric surgery, good clinical reputation, and on the west side. Nice person, too.

My PCP is very nice and supportive of WLS, his name is Jerry Simmons and he is on Hwy 36 in Needville (south of Richmond-Rosenburg on 59). His number is 979-793-7111. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
