LVikingFan 14 Posted July 31, 2011 I never thought I would have this problem! I had my surgery July 22nd and as of this morning I have lost 28 pounds since surgery and 22 on the liquid 10 day diet before. I feel really weak and tired and I am wondering if it is coming off too fast. Is that possible? I am still on full liquids and following the diet religiously. My goal is to lose 115 pounds. La Dolce Vita 1 Posted August 1, 2011 I had my surgery the same day and I am down 20 lbs. I lost 13 during the pre op liquid diet. Today was my first dayof pureed foods. I have had half of a scambled egg and a few bites of refried vegetarian Beans and I am completely satisfied. I think we are where we are supposed to be. Khy 16 Posted August 1, 2011 Idk that sounds like an awful lot of weight. Maybe you should just briefly check with your Doc. If that is ok.... then I am envious... My surgery was July 26th. I gained 4.5 lbs from the I/V's. That came off with an additional 5 or 6 lbs. Nothing like the weight loss you are experiencing. Khy
doggz109 41 Posted August 1, 2011 I am not sleeved yet but I would say this is common post op - especially if you are still on a liquid diet. A lot of people say they felt weak and tired until they were finally able to move into puree or more solid real food and then they really started to feel more normal again. if it is bothering you or you even have the thought that something is wrong (fever, not keeping fluids down, etc) - your surgeon office is only a phone call away. ellemarie 196 Posted August 1, 2011 Depending on how much you have to lose this can be normal. The more you have to lose early on the faster it comes off at first. You will adjust and the loss will slow, often after a big initial loss you will have a stall sometimes for weeks.
virtygirl 11 Posted August 3, 2011 I had surgery on July 22 as well. I have lost 17 pounds as of July 29. Pre-op is not worth discussing, as I gained instead of lost and was on a one day clear liquid diet the day prior to surgery for a loss of 7 pounds. Which I gained back through the IV fluids. Ive read of others losing as much in the first couple of weeks and don't believe it's anything to be concerned over however as others have stated if your not sure call your surgeon and ask.
