Good info! Muscle loss and weight loss

I believe creatine is a component in my Protein shake powders that I get from GNC, will have to check. I cannot open the video, what does it say?

Basically it talks about how the body is reluctant to burn fat so it will burn muscle instead. we want our body to be anabolic (muscle building) instead of catabolic (muscle burning). He recommends exercise and creatine, glutamine and whey Protein to help signal the body to be anabolic. It talks about how they gave it to muscle builder and it helped them, then elderly and it helped them as well so they gave it to elderly to improve brain function and it helped, then they gave it to mice and gave them a stroke and it decreased the size of the stoke, so they gave it to mice in general and it increased their life span by I think it was 10%. That is ALOT of benefits from just a few supplements that we either could be taking or may already be taking (like in some protein drinks). I found it to be quite impressive!

Creatine helps the body to build muscle, but also improves the brain function. He sited studies done in elder care homes 5 gms a day was the dose. He has a channel on Yotube.

Helps brain function?? Heck I am tripling my doses! I need a bran to build that muscle!

So I just read my costco protien shake and it does not list either ingrediant. I guess it is off to GNC tonight during my savers card days. I hope this comes in a pill, I so done with powders!

I think I'm in the great minority here when I say I hope for muscle loss!! I'm wayyyy muscular for a chick... LOL :) I actually avoid foods or supplements that can help build muscles.

That's just me though! Most everyone else should be concerned about this.

If I could "spot treat" I would do the same. I have what I have always heard called "cheerleader calves", and always have. I used to think it was fat so I started targeting that area during my workouts and they got BIGGER! My youngest has them too but at least guys don't get a second look if they have huge muscular calves. I am kinda concerned what my legs are gonna look like when I lose the weight on my thighs and my calves remain HUGE!! :behindsofa: Or worse... get bigger again from working out!! :dizzy::faint:

This is why I don't really add a whole lot of strength training type workouts to my routines. Everything I do is more toning, for lean curvy type looks. If I lifted weights I'd be up there with the dudes. I remember at around 14 years old (and I can't believe I'm even telling y'all this) but my Auntie used to have a Gym at her old apartments. Well, me and all my cousins were playing in there one day and we were leg bench pressing or whatever its called and I beat out all my cousins. Even the boys... LMAO!!! I'm a strong girl...

I USED to be that way. I remember one time (it happened more I am just recounting the once though) that I was about 11 or 12 and we were moving. adults were working on getting heavy stuff out and there was a recliner in my way. I had been told not to left things that heavy b4 many times because, according to them, it would "mess up my insides" and I wouldn't "be able to have kids". Well, I didn't want to get yelled at for not helping at all and the chair wasin my way so I couldn't get anything else and I figured if I am gonna get yelled at I might as well DO something to get yelled at for. So I picked up the recliner, by myself, and carried it in the house. I actually DIDN'T get yelled at because it was in the house b4 the other came out of the bedroom they had taken a mattress and box springs to. They each assumed the other brought the chair and and no one had a clue lol. So, anyway, like I was saying I USED to be really strong. Then I got older and got preg was only allowed to lift up to 5 pounds (which doesn't leave much you CAN lift) for 9 months and my muscles atrophied and since have only gotten worse since having surgery on my wrist which makes it painful to lift things. My muscles were very compact though, never bulky (except my calves) so I am not worried about bulking up too much. Although I do plan to get close to goal b4 I worry about strength training so I *don't* bulk up. With my frame I look too much like a man as it is lol. If I bulk up, my boobs deflate and I cut my hair ppl are gonna call me sir lol.I would love to get my strength back.... but I don't wanna look like a dude :P

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
