Turner, you will love it. I can't tell you how much my life has changed for the better over the past three months. I have got my self confidence back. I struggled with my weight for 11 years yo-yo dieting. I could take the weight off but I would put it back on. I look at this as a tool I can use forever if I do what I'm supposed to and not drink carbonated drinks and not over stuff myself. I have heard that people can gain the weight back if they do stuff their not supposed to. Everyone I see makes such a big deal when they see me, which makes me feel great. I have had a lot of people say "you weren't big enough to have surgery" and I say this " if my BMI considers me obese, than I wasn't too big for surgery." So I am so pleased with my weight loss. I have 15 more pounds and I will be at my goal 135. I had my surgery Aug 9 and I have lost 43 pds. I'm excited for you, it going to be a new start to a new life. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Congratulations, JM. What a great attitude. I hope my stall ends soon! This is a life-changing procedure

First off, congrats to all of you 'lower BMI-ers' for your success so far. I'm glad I found this thread....I hope there's room for another in this 'lower starting BMI' boat....? I'm starting with a BMI of 33 and my surgery is in four days (Halloween...yikes!). My goal is to drop about 65 lbs total. I realize I may be the only male on this thread but regardless, I just wanted to say hello and congrats to everyone. Wish me luck for the big day Monday.

Male or female you are welcome!

Halloween will be a great starting point and I'm sure your procedure will go well. I'm happy to say that I did not experience one negative side effect and that's pretty common.

Where are you having your surgery?

My life's next chapter will begin at Forest Park Medical Center. Hopefully the goblins stay away Monday ;)

DallasMom - Dr Kim will be the architect to the next (and long overdue) chapter in my life.

Jmiller - Thank you for the kind words and the prayers. I've read where a lot of people are really nervous prior to their surgery but I'm actually getting more and more excited every day....just 3+ days now! By Monday morning, I'll probably be bouncing off the walls ;)

Interesting that the three of us are all Texans....hmmmm.

I was 32.8 BMI. You must be 30.0 to even qualify with most surgeons. Talk to a local surgeon and see what they say. With my personal history and my families struggles with obesity, 3 surgeons confirmed I was a definite candidate. Best of luck to you!

Hi Mini!!! It's been ages since I've spent any length of time "trolling" the forum!! We moved back to Texas (Dallas) the first of August....it's been busy!! How are you? Looks like you're doing well - me too!!! This maintenece thing has been easy for me...thus far! I bounce between 138 and 143 - that's where I'm comfortable. I'm about three quarters of an inch taller than you....but I'm wearing a size 4 just like you.........never in my wildest dreams! Initially my goal was a size 8, and I really had my doubts if that was possible. I couldn't picture myself at that size. When I got to a size 12, I was thrilled and had I never lost another lb I would have been happy, but why stop...it was soooo dang easy. The eight was great, then a six. I have a size six GAP jeans that if they are just washed/dried I wear them when I'm having a "fat" day!!! LoL They're bagging off me and look way too big after an hour or so. I still look at these little bitty jeans and think NO WAY!!! I do recognize myself in the mirror now, which is nice. Do you still have the irrational fear of gaining it back? I can eat so much more than I could a few months out.....then the rational part of me looks at what others are eating in a restaurant, and I am stunned.....I use to eat that much. Still.....the head games we play. Am I the only one??!!!! I sure do love my sleeve....life is so much fun now, and most of the time, I've gone from being one of the 'bigger girls' in the room to more times than not, the smallest. It still makes me smile!!

Take care.....

Good luck!!! Like you, I was NEVER apprehensive, I was more than ready!!! Where in Dallas are you located? We're in the Los Colinas/Valley Ranch area. I am glad to be home!!!

First off, welcome back to TX. We have something in common that I too moved away from DFW and for almost 3 years, couldn't wait to get back. I just moved back in May and like you, so glad to be back 'home'. I'm in Flower Mound. Still can't believe that the next chapter for me begins in less than 3 days!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
