Thought it would be nice to find out about local bandster bonding. I am in Bremerton but am willing to travel to Tacoma or Olympia on occasion. Even if we just got together for coffee (or tea)... Structured support groups are nice, but are they FUN?

Please chime in and share what you do to stay connected.

Apparently you have the same problem as in my area - I found out about a support group - and posted it (I live in Arlington) but I got no replies online....I'm with you in spirit! I think getting together is a great way to stay connecting, have fun, meet new people and support each other in our common journey.

Found a few locals (7) in and around Bremerton. We met yesterday and set the next meeting for September 17th at the Kitsap Mall food court - 1pm.

I am meeting with one or two bandsters tomorrow (Tuesday) at Lion's Field, a small park in Bremerton off Sheridan rd. at 2:30.

It would be great to find more! Please come out! Email if you need directions.

Check yahoo groups, I found PNW_Bandsters there. I am trying to swing some folks to LBT since I don't really like Yahoo, but it would be a good place to network with locals if Silverdale/Bremerton is too far.

See you, Brenda

Wilma I am also in Bremerton I have not been banded yet but I am making plans. I really would like to talk to you as this is all new to me. I am planning to go to Mexico to get it done as I have to self pay We have Group Health insurance and they will not pay for banding. Please write back and tell me where you go for fills and how you are doing.

Brenda I had to work so didn't get to go to the mall. Are there any other get togeithers planned? How many showed up? I have my lap band schedualed in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz so I am really hoping to meet people who have gone before.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
