Big-J 0 Posted August 1, 2011 I am having my one week post op visit tomorrow and want the doc to clear me for full liquids. I haven't had Protein of any sort for over a week. I am having cravings for cream Soups and smoothies. If I have to drink Gatorade and Jello for another week I will probably lose more but I will go insane. Wish me luck!!! artmama 0 Posted August 1, 2011 I am one week out now and I think you are being hard on yourself. We are not used to eating such small amounts and listening to our stomachs, i don't think you did permanent damage, but you do need to start listening to it. I have been eating about 3-4 ounces of baby food, homemade, about 2/3rd Protein (chicken or salmon)and 1/3 steamed vegetable pureed with some boullion to make it more liquid, I even added a little olive oil. It is really delicious and I am feeling satisfied after just a small amount. Maybe you are just not eating deliciously enough. In between I eat yogurt or Protein shakes . As for Vitamins, I bought sugarless gummies @ costco and have been chewing them until they dissolve and keeping them down w/o a problem, I have more of a problem taking my reglan, it never wants to go down with just one ounce of Water. AS for being prepared... can you ever really be prepared for what we have been through? you definitely are being too hard on yourself. As for the pain, is it gas? Walking and raising my arms and stretching as much as I can has helped with that and also...gas x . If it is the incision, I don't know, I have very little pain at the site, just the jackson / pratt drain is driving me crazy, but that is coming out on Wednesday, so I cannot complain. You need to cut yourself some slack, let go of the anger, it is not helping you, and start giving yourself all the support that you have been giving everybody over the past few months. You are terrific and you can do this. It does get better. Hope this helps... hugs I am four days post op and yesterday started to eat yougurt and applesauce with Protein powder in it. I was eating about 1/2 cup. Was wondering why my stomach was hurting. When I looked closer at the portion sizes I read I am only supposed to eat 1/4 cup. Do you think I have done permenant damage? I am also having trouble keeping my Vitamins down. I am just overwelmed and in pain ;( I am angry with myself because I thought I was so prepared for this but I guess I wasn't. DrMommy 4 Posted August 2, 2011 I'm a July sleever as well (6 days out). I am actually impressed that you can get that much down at all. I am still on Water and can;t get anything else down which has me panicked that I won't be able to tolerate anything close to real food for a while. It is an adjustment to be sure. I am having a really hard time with pain and hunger. But just listen to you stomach.....it's all apart of the learning curve! :-) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
