Let me just start by saying that I've contemplated posting something like this for about a week. It was then that I peered down at the scale and *gasp* I hadn't lost any weight. Now, five days later, I'm in the same boat. As a matter of fact, I've gained two pounds!

I'm eating like a bird. sugar free pudding, cottage cheese, Protein drinks and egg. Sometimes I get this defeated attitude and I think that my sleeve is obviously not working, the doctor made it too big, I will always be fat blah blah blah. so I try to eat crackers or something...at which point I throw up.

Everyone else talks about how they are losing weight without even trying. "It doesn't matter what I do" they say. "I still lose weight." This is apparently not the case for me.

My doctor's office assured me that I'm completely normal and that this happens sometimes. But for some reason, I can't bring myself to get over it!

Somebody please tell me that they went through something like this. I just need some hope.

Water, water, water. body shock! I know it sucks to see those numbers! however your body is not ridding itself of water or toxin( anesthesia, pain meds, anti nausea, you got it all in the hospital) You will be happy in the days to come!

There is this thing called the "3 week stall" - a stall that usually occurs around the 3rd week after surgery. You and I both are entering that time frame. It is completely normal for us to stall at this point. I haven't lost any weight in a week. IT WILL PASS THOUGH. Meggiep had posted this link before, but I think it's a good one because it describes what happens when our bodies stall. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

My surgeon and dieticians say to NOT weigh yourself daily, but to do it at the very most weekly. The reason is your weight fluctuates on a daily basis. At the last support group meeting, there was a gentleman who had the sleeve done 2 weeks before me and he was pissed that he had lost 43 pounds in 2 weeks, but nothing since. He said that he destroyed (literally through it out the window onto the patio where it shattered) his scale when he weighed himself one morning and then AGAIN an hour later and found it went up 3 pounds. Everyone who had surgery, the psychologist that was there and the dietician all said in one voice - don't do that! If you weigh yourself frequently, you're just gonna make yourself crazy when the scale starts bouncing around like that.

Weigh yourself once per week. Trust your surgeon and dietician - they know what they are doing. Follow their plan and stick to it. It WILL WORK.

I had my surgery 6/11 and the first week i dropped 14 pounds! I was over the moon then it has been 1-2 pounds a week. The week before my period I gained 2 pounds and didn't lose for almost 2 weeks. I put away my home scale and only weigh myself at work and I try to weigh once a week, at most 2x a week. I am just glad that I went from 228 and now I'm 202, these are pounds I am determine never to see again. It's frustrating but hang in there. Also try to weight yourself at the same time, for me my weight fluctuate 2 pounds from morning and night.

Thanks everyone for the support! The article about the stall put me at ease. I know that if I just keep doing what I'm supposed to the weight will come off. I'm going to throw away my scale!

Bitties, make sure you're eating ENOUGH calories and drinking enough Water. Other than that, sounds like you're doing everything right.

I know how it feels, trust me, cuz my 3rd-week stall just ended -- 6 weeks later. My refrain was, "Why did I go thru all this if I'm not even going to lose weight!? Maybe I'm broken! What's WRONG with me?"

But now it's over. And it'll be over for you too, just as long as you keep doing the right stuff.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
