3 weeks out--stalled for 2 HELP PLEASE

Recommended Posts

I know that stalls are talked about over and over on here but I am not getting any progress from reading about other situations.... I have upped my carbs, lowered my carbs, and nothing there.. I can't get in more than about 500 cal per day, mostly chicken, cheese, BBQ Sauce and ketchup. I am drinking about 70-90 ounces of Water per day, 1 Powerade zero every couple days. I am taking my Vitamin and Calcium and nexium and Miralax. I am on regular foods per my doc. I am walking, jogging, plyometrics, and 5 pound weights everyday for about 2 hours total. What can I do to break this stall?? I stayed the same weight for 1 week then I gained 2 pounds this past week, and it hasnt changed... What more can I do?? I lost 13 pounds the first week and nothing since...... HELP PLEASE!!!

All I can say is you're doing everything right and your body can not withstand that for very long. It'll be giving up the pounds soon. Just hang in there.

Ashley, your body's just in shock post-op. It sucks, I know, but relax, you're fine. 3 weeks is no time at all for the body to heal and de-swell. You're getting in enough liquid, so that's great.

I know how you feel since I started a stall at the 3rd week that just ended yesterday, 6 weeks later, with a sudden 5 lb drop.

Just checking: Are you supposed to be eating solid food like chicken already?

Hi Ashley.. I'm right there with you. I had surgery 7/12 and started walking right away which helped me heal well. I lost 15lbs right away and then I've been fighting the same lb or 2 since 7/17! I am only eating about 500 calories a day and getting in Protein and Water. I do 30-60min of cardio a day and it makes no sense to me why the scale isn't moving. I'm trying to listen to the "your body is just in shock" advice but I still have that fear in the back of my mind that I'm the one super weight loss resistant person that won't lose weight no matter what. I'm going to kickboxing tomorrow morning and taking out my frustration on a punching bag. LOL! Hang in there!

I'm sorry, I know it sucks!! My 3 wk stall lasted a long time too, well over a month! The scales are moving, but I will lose, then gain a couple back. Try not to focus on the scales right now, it will drive you crazy. Just know that most of us experience it too. But I dropped sizes in clothes during this time.

:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
