FishingNurse 1,211 Posted July 28, 2011 I bought a blender, a couple cases of bottled Water, a case of G2, low sugar juice boxes to freeze and make into slush, a stack of magazines, and a cute loose nightgown to wear post op. I read on this website everyday and mentally prepare for the journey! I can't wait, good luck on the 8th, I am right after you on the 9th!
Houston_Rich 0 Posted July 28, 2011 I am on August 10 and am VERY happy to have found this Forum. I am 2 days on my Bariatric Advantage Protein liquid diet, so far so good. In the past two weeks I have given up tobacco (smoked and dipped occasionally), alcohol, diet coke, and now food...HA! I bought some of the shaker bottles at GNC that have the little wisk ball in them and they work GREAT for a shake on the run. Also have some Crystal light powder and several Water bottles with measuring lines on the sides. I have a stack of books to read through during my recovery but honestly just want to get to it. Two weeks cannot go fast enough.
Gaylebco 11 Posted July 28, 2011 I'm August 2nd and so excited. Bought lots of samples of different protien drinks. Got a little weighing scale to be more accurate. Got a cuisinart and already make up a few things and put them in the freezer. OHHH important here, the nut told me we focus so much on low cal, no sugar liquids that we forget that initially we can have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and start to shake and sweat and feel really bad so she recommended one bottle of REGULAR gateraid in the fridge, just in case to sip if you feel low in the blood sugar area. Happylife 6 Posted July 28, 2011 Awaiting a call from my Drs office. She thinks August 10 th will work for my surgery. But has to check with the doctor first. He has to go over the last few tests! I REALLY hope so!!! Because after that he goes away on holidays until mid September!! And my three kids will be keeping overly bizy by then!
rubyspring 1 Posted July 29, 2011 Sticking to my all liquid diet and started with the antibacterial soap and mouthwash today. Stocked up on Crystal Light, Protein Powder and broth. Anxiously awaiting the 12 flavors of Davinci sugar free Syrup I ordered to make those shakes taste good. 1/2 day of work tomorrow, visit to the hospital to finalize paperwork and surgery on Monday. Yeah!
lynn225 0 Posted July 29, 2011 August 2nd, and I can't wait. Finished my pre op's Tuesday. Had to have a EKG, Blood Work, Upper GI, Chest X-Ray, Pulminary Test, and Phyc. Test. I am glad they take all the precautions though. Will not have to be on a post diet until the day before surgery. Have bought some EAS Protein Drinks, chocolate is very good, some Isosorbide (?spelling) Clear Liquids, some sugar free pops, chicken broth, frozen ice. I also got my Flintstone chewables, and B-12 dots. Will not have to be on clear liquids but three days after coming home. so I guess five days total. Glad to see the magazines. Gonna have to make another run.

rubyspring 1 Posted July 29, 2011 I've seen both of the following mentioned by others on this site, too. Hibiclens is an antiseptic antimicrobial skin cleanser that i'm supposed to wash my torso with twice a day for 4 days before surgery and then that morning. Nystatin is used for fungal infections of the mouth, 4 times a day for 4 days pre-op. He said using them would reduce risk on complications. All I do is follow his instructions:) Color me silly but what is the antibacterial soap and mouthwash for? I sorta get the mouthwash cuz you will be trached.
