July 29th Sleevers....

Recommended Posts

Well, we made it and tomorrow is our big day. I am so ready to be on the other side and healed. I feel like a little kid going to Disney World. Hey...at least I would fit in the seats of the rides before too long. There's a positive. I went for Pre-Op yesterday and my nurse has the sleeve. She is 4 months out and is down 50 lbs. She told me EVERYTHING to expect but it is the exact same as everything I've read on here. I am SO THANKFUL for this forum.....SO, SO, SO THANKFUL!!!

I don't know about the rest of you July 29th Sleevers but this Pre-Op diet has me pretty much exhausted. I started the liquid diet on Sunday....I will NOT lie on here....I did GREAT until that night and I had a heaping tablespoon of Peanut Butter. I became very tired but for some reason and I couldn't sleep. On Monday, I found out that I didn't have to be on Clear liquids only for the entire pre-op diet so I had some Cream of chicken Soup and later I had some Tomato Basil Soup....again, no lying....I had a little bread with the Tomato Soup (maybe 1 slice if that). Still feeling tired and weak. Tuesday, I stuck to it beautifully but was tired. Wednesday, beautifully as well...still tired. So here I am the day before with Clear Liquids only and I am absolutely EXHAUSTED! I just want to take a nap and it's only 9:00am. How have the rest of you felt during the pre-op diet?

I go to the hospital tomorrow at 7:00am and surgery is 'scheduled' for 9:00am...we'll see how that goes - you know how Dr's are about being on time. I wish each and everyone of the July 29th Sleevers good luck! And all of the others as well. What a journey we are about to embark upon. See you on the other side.......................................................

My surgery is also in the morning, 9:30 am on July 29th. The pre-op diet has been exhausting. I feel like I have so much to do to get ready but no energy to get it all accomplished. There is also a two day clear liquid pre-op so I am going into the second day and it isn't as bad as I thought. I feel nervous and excited. It has been hard to concentrate at work this week but one more day, today. When I woke up this morning, I told my husband that it was my last chubby day...he laughed and agreed with me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
