Funny the education the kids get huh? I have a question, do you panic when things get stuck? Its my husbands biggest fear, that food will get stuck and I will choke and die. Apparently he hasn't ever looked at my plate and saw how little i have always cut my meat, you could give it to a one yr old...lol.

I don't panic...I do STRESS OUT though! I get all upset (especially at restaurants), and kind of lose control, you know, maybe it is a little panicky! I know the food is in my esophagus, but it does cause your adrenaline to pump and the blood pressure skyrockets for that instant!!!

Believe it or not, I have learned to take a drink when I'm stuck and then run for the bathroom - especially when I know it isn't ever going to pass!!! Something about adding liquid really causes things to happen!!hehe

I've never actually thrown up in the old-fashioned sense, it all comes from my pouch and esophagus! Has anyone out there actually gotten sick (stomach virus or otherwise?) I am curious as to what happens to the band...

A stuck food doesn't block your airway. Stuck food blocks or partially blocks your stoma. The result of a PB might be aspirated though, which COULD cause choking.

PB'ing and plain ol' sliming is not fun. I had my first fill about a month ago and spent the first week pb'ing just about every time I ate. Now, I seem to be doing much better, although it is still a learning experience in terms of what I can and cannot eat. Just remember that after you get your first fill. Everything will change and things you had been eating that were going down fine will not necssarily work for you anymore after you are filled. I have found there are many things I can no longer tolerate and everytime I eat something new, I am very careful with those first few bites. I finally understand the chew, chew, chew rule, it is one of the most important bandster rules.
