Eating 0 Posted July 27, 2011 I had surgery July 18. Lost 5 pounds pre and through today -27 pounds. No problems at all. However, since 2nd week eating just about everything in the correct amounts including salad and other veg, growing beef, chicken, lobster etc. Kind of weird given I read so many people have such problems eating. Started at 305 now 278. Slower rate of loss. Swimming 1/2 mile and walking 1 mile every day. Increasing exercise. I am concerned because eating doesn't bother me. I do get full quickly but can eat everything. Are there others who have had the same experience?
MissBliss 29 Posted July 27, 2011 I won't be able to eat solids for almost 4 weeks after surgery! Isn't is wild how many different ways there are to care for your sleeve! Swimming and walking already, too! I won't be cleared for that much exercise until week 3. I am so pleased to hear you are doing well and so jealous that you get solid food. I kinda forgot how to use utensils! LOL!

Nancy Rivers 24 Posted July 27, 2011 Quite honestly, I'm experiencing the same thing. I haven't tried salads yet, but I actually had a whole cup of bean & ham Soup today in one setting (and I didn't puree it like I was supposed to). I've never liked bean soup before, but this didn't taste too bad, and I was shocked that I was able to eat the whole cup. I even added a scoop of Protein Powder to it, and still was able to eat everything. Yeah, I was full at the end, but still shocking. I've also had "mini" hamburgers this week - about 2-3 ounces of beef made into a patty and grilled. I'm just supposed to do purees right now, but I'm eating solids. I wonder though if it will come back to "haunt" me later. I hope not.
Eating 0 Posted July 27, 2011 How many days post surgery are you? I am 57 and have had many operations for this and that. I was walking around in recovery room!! May be because I am use to surgery. Also, I had the best surgeon in the country. Dr Edward Lin of Emory University. Not one pain or problem.

Nancy Rivers 24 Posted July 27, 2011 My surgery was the July 12 - a week before you. I also had no post-op pain or other problems. They wouldn't let me out of bed though until the nurse could walk with me once I reached my room. I'm going for my 2 week followup appointment tomorrow. Eating 0 Posted July 27, 2011 Great!!! I don't think it hurts to recover quicker as long as the portions remain the correct size. Getting all the nutrition and protien from the food is very healthy. I dont need Protein Drinks even though I like the powder I bought from GNC. chocolate and very good. 80 calories per 20 grams of Protein. Keep up the good work. I am very happy! Jensharley 9 Posted July 28, 2011 I started solids on the direction of my doctor. I didn't have a problem until last night. My husband and I went to a concert and ate dinner out before the concert. I ordered ahi tuna with some lobster mac and cheese and heirloom tomatoes. When the tomatoes came they had slices of cucumber with peel included. I was eating and talking to my husband and without even thinking grabbed a cucumber and popped it into my mouth. About 5 minutes later it would not budge. Not going up and not going down. The sliming started and I ended up getting sick. I was so mad at myself for foregoing a wonderful piece of fish to eat a lousy cucumber and winding up losing my dinner all together. I realized I need to be more conscious of my eating. I am going to have to work on that for sure. Also not drinking with meals is very difficult for me. How is everyone doing with that? Eating 0 Posted July 28, 2011 Nor drinking is difficult but it is most important! Washing the food out of the small stomach simple makes us hungry! Haven't had problem with cucumbers but chew them well!
Leslie 14 Posted July 29, 2011 I am doing well also. I can only eat at a max 1/3cup at a time of anything though. They only thing I have had issue with is a spicy Indian dish. I have NO IDEA why I even tried that.... I am walking about 2-3 miles a day, swimming, and doing upper and lower body weight lifting. I am not allowed to work my core yet. TrHick2b 2 Posted July 29, 2011 Wow solid foods after only 2 weeks? Im so jealous lol... I wonder why, when we all have the same procedure, our different surgeons give us all different instructions??? I was sleeved July 20 (8 days ago) and im not supposed to move on to pureed food for another 2 weeks, which sucks because im beginning to feel some actual hunger. Anyone else on solid food less than 3 or 4 weeks post op?
