kbfree 0 Posted July 27, 2011 I am 5 days post-op. Alamanza performed the sleeve. Back at home and having trouble holding down anything, including Water. 2 days ago, immediately when I returned home, I went to the ER for dehydration and was given potassium and fluids by IV. I just want to drink a cup of water. I'm craving liquids. No desire for food, but just want to feel something cold and soothing go down and stay down. Ice-pops (pedialyte) bars, ice, juice, etc don't stay down either. I'm told this will get better each day. Any thoughts or advice on how long I might be in this state are appreciated. MimiMermaid 13 Posted July 27, 2011 wow kbfree, i am soo sorry that you are going through this... i cant see how this can be healthy. You NEED Water. have you tried ice chips or snow ice. i have a blender than can make snow.. do you think something like that will work? Do you have someone taking care of you? Also, can you get in touch with a surgeon here in the US to help with questions on what you should do?? i'm worried about you as i'm sure your family is too hope things start getting better soon. sending good healing thoughts your way. Nancy Rivers 24 Posted July 27, 2011 Have you tried warm Water or room temperature liquids? For many, the temperature of the liquid plays a huge part of the toleration so soon after surgery. Many report that warm or room temperature works best for them. I was the opposite and ice cold water worked best for me - but evidently that's not working for you. If water doesn't work, then try broth - sometimes that goes down better than plain water too. You can also try flavoring the water - sometimes that helps. Also, remember to sip - not gulp.
