Stressing over....an EGG!

Recommended Posts

I am finally (thank the good Lord) able to try eggs. My plan says I can have poached, scrambled, or soft boiled. I have been stressing all day over how to cook the sucker.

So my question to you all is: How was your egg cooked the first time you ate it? And did you tolerate it? I've never in my life had a poached egg and to be honest it doesn't sound appealing. I'm thinking I want to do a boiled egg and then puree it...make a sort of egg salad minus all the mayo and pickles.

Thanks everyone!!!

It took me a while to tolerate eggs, which was weird because I didn't really have a problem with anything else really. But, I keep giving them a try, and finally I could eat them with no problem. I started eating them scrambled first....

I made puree egg salad with light mayo and sour pickle juice. Yummy.

I also scrambled it in the microwave (spray glass bowl with pam, scramble egg with a little shredded cheese, nuke for 20-40 minutes). then pureed it with some salsa and greek yogurt.

To the topic starter good luck, hope it stays down for you!

My first egg was eggbeaters at a restaurant - that was a mistake. It was so greasy that I couldn't take 2 bites. However, since then, I have had egg beaters cooked in the microwave about 30-45 seconds. I've even taken to tossing in a pinch of shredded cheese. I've also had soft boiled eggs made into egg salad with just a tablespoon of low fat Miracle Whip. Very yummy.

Poached eggs are simply "fried" eggs made in Water. I used to work at a restaurant and would see the cooks making poached eggs all the time and that's how they did it. When the egg was done - it looked like any other fried egg - but maybe a bit "fluffier". I haven't tried one yet, but plan to next week (after I'm in my new apartment).

I absolutely loved your post. . . stressing over an egg! That is cute, but VERY valid. . . eggs are weird. . .they are allowed on the meal plan but are tough to get used to. . . honey don't boil it just yet, hard on the tummy, but if your going to puree it, it may be good, I had my first egg very soft scrambled and then eat it very slowly, take a bite chew and swallow then wait at least 1 minute before putting in another bite. . . cause if you stuff that egg in there, your tummy may hate you for it. . . good luck and let us know. . .

I used to eat eggs almost every morning. Post surgery, my sleeve has rejected them emphatically 3 times, and not because I ate too much--I'm wondering now, after reading these posts, if I tried to eat them too quickly or something. At any rate, they're "off my list" for now and I miss them. Good luck with your egg venture!!!

LOL! Yes, seconds... you can try minutes, but you might get egg powder.

I have also tried soft scrambled eggs. I used to love eggs. I just cannot seem to tolerate them and they don't digest well. So maybe I will try in another month. it is weird, because i thought this would be one of the easies things to eat(not!).

My first egg was scarmbled very softly with a little shredded cheese and I was so shocked that I could only eat about 1/2 of it at 4 weeks out.

I am 11 weeks out now and STILL can not finish an entire egg with cheese. I can do a whole egg without cheese. I also can eat 1 1/2 boiled eggs. WEIRD!!

Good luck!

Kelly :D

Mine was scrambled with a little cheese on it. It was delicioso.

But please remember that some folks can't tolerate eggs very well early on, and just in case you are one of them, don't get discouraged about it. Just try again later! It took me a couple times before they went down easy for me.

Good luck to yousmile.gif

hmmmmm wish I had seen this topic about 30 minutes ago.

I was thinking today was Thursday and that tomorrow would be my 8th day after surgery which is when I can have my first egg. I decided one day wouldn't matter so I took a couple of tiny bites of the 1/2 egg on my husbands chef salad. BIG MISTAKE. I now feel like there is a whole egg stuck somewhere between my throat and sleeve.

I had also decided to make deviled eggs for a happy hour we are invited to Friday evening. Thinking I could have that. NOT. I will take a tray of something and I will skip all food and just sip on my "Mud Slide" a/k/a chocolate Protein drink....... no one will know the difference. LOL

I have found people feel guilty eating around me which I keep explaining has not bothered me at all.

Thanks for all of the ideas on how to try the egg and not feel "just awful".

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
