You have no idea how much you will love your sleeve. It is the single best thing I've done for myself. Think of your pre-op as conditioning for a race. Do the hard work so that you can have your surgery. The way you will feel after surgery and in the coming months will not ever been 1/10th as hard as any diet before hand. It's hard it sucks, you can do it though!

It gets easier I promise. It will help your liver be in good shape and reduce your carb cravings. I know it sucks but you can do it and you will be glad you did!!

I am on day 7 of my 14 day liquid diet! I feel your pain! But we will get through this! I had a weak moment last night and actually cried when I smelled the tacos that my family was eating! But I got through it (with alot of help from this board) and I kept thinking about how this is my choice. I choose to not eat because I choose to be healthier with the help of surgery! We can do this! Be strong!!!!

Ok, so this pre op is simply a means to and end! How bad do you want the end? The end being the surgery and subsequent weight loss and health!

This is what you keep in the front of your mind when you feel you are struggling and feeling bad! Just imagine 100 lbs from now,, this will all be worth it!

Go Sister GO!

I am working today and I think I will do a TON better!!!!! I am so excited to get my surgery and I know that this is only the start of my new life!!

I know exactly how you are feeling. The pre-op diet is very challenging. I remember at one point I opened the refrigerator and saw my husbands salad and thought OMG how good it would feel to just munch on one little piece of lettuce. :P

But each day does get better and you will feel like you have accomplished a lot just getting through the pre-op diet.

I hope you are having the Protein Shakes as that really helps a lot. Remember you can do this! We are all behind you cheering you on.

You will soon be on the losers bench with the rest of us and it feels good.

I know exactly what you mean and how u feel. Today is day 2 of my 2 week pre-op diet. The only thing I can have is broth, Protein Shakes, sugar-free popsicles, Jello and drinks. Some of the other blogs that I have read talk about eating pudding or doing the Atkins diet for the pre-op diet. It seems like they have to do it for only 3 days too, I am not sure why we have to do it for sooooo long. I am assuming that if you are at the same place I am then your sleeve date must be Aug. 9th too? I just pray that I have the strength to get through the next 2 weeks. The hardest part is still preparing meals for my 2 daughters. I will keep you in my prayers that you find the strength to do it. I am so glad I found someone doing the 2 week diet too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
