Does if sound like I need a fill?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 9-9-05; without a fill. I lost about 10 lbs pre-op and 40 lbs. after. Another 50 lbs to lose before reaching my goal. My first fill on 3-15-06 helped me lose another 3 lbs. I keep gaining and losing those 3 lbs. though. I can eat anything and larger portions than I should. I’m afraid my “pouch” will stretch, if I’m not careful. I’m making poor food choices too. I did notice that if I get involved in conversation while eating meat and not chewing well, it does stick…OUCH! Having difficulty right now, staying motivated. I keep telling myself, that I have come this far and I have to keep going. Does it sound like I need a fill?

Hmmmmm. Probably. Seeing as you've only had one. I just had another that I wasnt sure I needed and it has helped a lot.

I think you need 2 things... a small fill AND to stop making bad food choices. A fill won't do anything is you're eating bad foods that can easily slide past the band. You can do it, toss out all the crap in the house and get some healthy food in it's place.

It sounds like you need another fill. I would start there, then tackle some of the other issues. At least being properly restricted might help a little with your food choices.

I feel better about having another fill. It's hard to get rid of all of the bad foods at my house. We do eat healthy foods too, but my husbands a snacker and big eater. Of course he's the skinny one. But I think he would understand, if I had to toss the junk food. It's funny, but even after posting last night, I was more motivated. Guess it just helps to write it down. Thanks to everyone for you input.

I debated forever about getting the 2nd fill but now I'm glad I did and won't wait so long again. Not sure why I waited either but it sounds like you could use one. I do also agree with others - try to make as good as choices as you can so the fill has a fighting chance. Good LUCK!

I had my second fill today. I think he said I'm a 2cc. I was pretty good today, eating softly, if you know what I mean. I haven't felt hungry at all today. Hope it stays that way. I told my husband that all junk food much be removed, at once. :)

I've had two fills, after the second I could only eat a few bites of anything...there was no pattern to what would cause a PB. That's been 5 weeks and now I can eat small portions of anything except soft breads. I wish I could keep my band at this spot all the time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
