That's awesome! Congrats! By that time you will be 3 months out from surgery, you will probably be on solid foods by then, so that should be fine.

I will be on solida ( just beginning them Nov 2nd) but was not sure how people do with cake in the beginning? It's a 3 layer with 2 flavors each layer (chocolate and vanilla on the bottom, lemon and strawberry with fresh strawberries in th center of it--in the middle and the single top layer, chocolate with reeses peanutbutter cup--future hubbies favorite!)

This is just my recommendation; when I very first had a sugary treat, I felt horrific. Not true dumping syndrome, but I did get the clammy, flushed feeling. Reactive hypoglycemia is common for some patients especially if you are low carbing, sugar free eating and then all of a sudden you throw some (all be it a small bite) of yummy buttercream frosting/cake into your system. I would suggest you having a couple of bites of sugary something the week before your wedding to make sure your body doesn't completely freak out.

At 2 years out, even though I don't restrict any foods, and do not restrict carbs or sugar, I do not eat these things on a regular basis, and if I decide to indulge in cake, I feel pretty crappy. Cheesecake, candybars, Starbursts candies, pie, donuts do NOT have this effect on me, but buttercream or cream cheese frosting both make me feel weird. I'm assuming it's the fat content that does me in on the frosting.

Many congrats on your upcoming nuptials and getting your sleeve date! ! !

Love the date! I guess you will be getting your dress altered! I haven't had problems with cake, but most sweets just don't appeal to me anymore. I have had a couple of bites of cake here and there without any issues. I do think it is a good idea to try some ahead of time just in case. We all have issues with different foods. I can't tolerate hamburger meat, for example. Congratulations!

Becca, it's funny because my daughter ( also named Becca) is gettng married in October and i gave her my wedding dress, I am going to have to find a new one to match my new body. I"m excited about that possibility and was happy to help out my daughter with my gown.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
