I can't believe I have had my sleeve for a week now. I weighed myself this morning and I lost 10.4 lbs. this week. In my whole adult life I was only ever lower than this 2 times. The last was in 2006, I was losing weight when my husband was deployed, I got down to 227, but then my dad got sick and ended up in the hospital for 6 weeks and then passed away. By the summer of 2007, I was up to 282. The other time I was lower was the year I turned 21, I got down to 208. I don't even know how much I weighed when I graduated from high school, but when I had to put down my size for my gown I remember putting down 225 and hoping the gown would fit, but I was afraid someone would see my paper and I didn't want them to know how much I really weighed.

I am feeling pretty good. I am not getting all of my fluids in, but I am getting more in every day and swallowing has become so much easier. I went grocery shopping with my husband on Sunday because there was so much to get. About half way through, I had to have him and my 10 yr. old that tagged along to start grabbing stuff off the shelves and putting them in the cart. I was hurting by the time we were finished, but just the couple of minutes standing at checkout made a world of difference and I walked out of the store with no pain.

I am still taking my pain medicine to sleep at night, because I didn't Sunday night, and I was a little sore yesterday. I have been able to sleep in my bed since my first night home, which is great. Well, usually from about 11 -5, then I have to move to the recliner. And sleep, I am so tired, I lay in bed with my eyes closed and can't fall asleep, but I'm too tired to get up and do anything, so I just lay there. And my dreams are so vivid. Of course, a lot of them are about food, but some of them are scary too.

I have not had any real desire to eat any food. My mom (she lives with us) makes some really good smelling meals, but I don't really have any desire to eat any of it. Although, I am really looking forward to starting purees tomorrow. The worst part, which is a little disturbing is, my 10 yr. old came home from camp on Sat. and wanted McDonald's for lunch, so my husband went and got it. When he got home with the food, it was like sensory overload, I just wanted to sit down and eat McDonalds with the rest of the family. Oh, my, it was so tempting!!! So, I told them I needed to go take a shower, and after that I was fine. I have been sitting at the table eating my Jello while they eat dinner and I have been fine.

Well, that pretty much sums up my first week. How is everyone else doing??

How great! I'm glad you took that shower. . . you'll find yourself taking A LOT of showers! You'll be very clean! hehehe :) Keep up the great work. . it's tough and there will be days you'll absolutely hate your sleeve, but be glad you have it . . in the long run you'll be better for it! Good luck and keep it up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
