how can i eat this much?

Recommended Posts

hey all... i am concerned that i am starting to see the volume in which i am eating increasing before i am satisfied. for instance, i can eat 2 chicken strips with no problem and a half cup of veggies. just a month ago, i could only get in half chicken strip. my weight loss has slowed. i've lost almost 50 lbs. in 3 months... but this last month has been little to nothing.

anyone else feeling this?

are you drinking with your meals??? that will allow you to eat more than you really should and you won't get that full feeling. Reduce intake will get your scales moving again. My surgerical team said not to drink 30 mins before a meal, nothing during the meal and nothing for 30 mins after a meal so you will get that "full" feeling. Something to think about. Good Luck

Well that was easy!! B) I'm glad you were able to find the reason so fast. Drinking while sleevers eat will break down the food in your stomach much faster and drain it down goes...

You're doing really great Jess, I'm very happy for your progress!!!

Wow, drinking just builds up in my throat if I do it while I eat. It doesn't wash the food down at all. I sometimes wish it would, because if I eat something too dry, it is hard to go down. I guess everybody is different. Glad you got a fix for your problem!!!

i thought drinking with meals was a band thing not a sleeve thing... but i do remember my doc talking about it --- but much like disney mentioned above... i thought it was bc it WON'T go down not bc it would affect how you ate. thought i was a fortunate one who could. WHOOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not drinking around meals is drilled in to us multiple times during my program - I have had 3 nutrition classes and 3 nutritionist visits and all of them say it over and over - not to mention it is all over our manual! I am pre-op and it's not something I have tried to practice, I am pretty sure I will be one who has to set an alarm to remind myself LOL

I have done this before when I notice I eat something that just does not settle well with me. Yes, I have to take itty bitty sips because at the moment it DOES fill me up faster, however it also gets my food to digest a lot faster too. So that prickly meal, whatever I ate gets out and I'm feeling better. :)

That said, and since I've figured this out I do my best to not drink while eating!

HTH

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
