In December I had a total Hysterectomy, I'm now waiting for my surgeon to schedule my sleeve. The question I have is, "Will I lose weight fast or slower than someone who's not going through menopause?" Will the sleeve work for me? Is anyone out there going through menopause finding iit easy to lose weight or hard with the sleeve?

Oye, probably not going to get too many responses in The Man Room, but I'm sure you can search the other rooms.

Hi,

I'm post-menopausal and somewhat of a lightweight too. My surgery date BMI was 35.8. I have lost 10% of my body weight in the first month followiing surgery and I am on track to lose another 10% by the end of month 3. I'm happy with my weight loss. I have seen others losing a lot more, but I'm not sure of their BMI. And I've seen some people losing less.

For me the surgery is a huge success. I already feel so much better and I'm thrilled to be in regular sizes and shrinking at a pretty good clip.

I had a full hysterectomy at the age of 41, I'm 50 now, and I had no problems losing all my weight.

I am post menopausal (age 49). I think I am perfectly average in my weight loss - 35 pounds in 7.5 weeks, On the one hand, I am not anxious about how much I lose, or don't lose. ANYTHING is better than nothing - and it is definitely better than continuing to gain weight! But, on the other hand, I will be disappointed if I do not lose close to 100 pounds in a year.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
