Words of wisdom requested

Recommended Posts

I am at the end of week one of a two week liquid only diet, and I am struggling. I dislike the Protein Shakes, I chug them without breathing through my nose! LOL!!!! I made my family several meals last night so they have things to eat and I don't have to go into the kitchen. One of those things I made was a meat sauce and tortellini, and it is calling me. But I refuse to answer! I will not screw this up by eating....could you please give me some words of wisdom? Let me know if you have any tips. How did you get through your pre-op diet? Thanks for letting me vent. I WILL do this, I am just not very happy about it!

Two weeks of liquid is hard, no matter which way you slice it. Are you on full liquids or clears? One thing that can help if you are on full liquids is to do a low-fat cream Soup - if you are on clears, your Protein is your best bet for satisfaction.

If it helps any, the hunger and obsession with food usually die down some in a few days.

I JUST got off liquids myself for post-op and I know how you feel.

Oh, I know it will be so hard! I will be scheduled anyday now and expect to be on the liquid diet within the next couple of weeks. I am NOT looking forward to it, but I AM looking forward to all the things I'll be able to do when I have lost the weight.

I don't know if this will help for you, but I'm going to make a list of all the things I am looking forward to and look at it often. Example: Drive the car without the steering wheel rubbing my belly. Get out of the car without having to use the tilt steering wheel. Ride the roller coaster-they'll be able to get the seat belt on me!!

Good luck. We're all rooting for you!

Linda

Preop is rough ( I am just starting) but it is for a short period of time and the reward is so worth it! Try to hang tought. Have you wrote out your 12 things you look forward to doing or reasons why you are doing this? If you have not I suggest you do. It will help thru the preop and postop phase. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
