So I am scheduled for surgery at 7:15 in am. Haven't seen my husband since last wednesday and he comes in and says.... You look like u have already lost weight... I said I had since I had been on prep diet.... His response.. Can't u just do that forever... Not what I really needed to hear. I have already been questioning myself... I think mostly out of fear of what if I fail at this, too?! I know I will fail if I don't do this.... But it is scary!

Mommyto2: It is normal to have fear and doubt, BUT Don't give up now, you are too close to victory. My husband has said the same thing and I just ignored him, because I am doing this for me. Yes, it will be hard at first, but then we will become professional sleevers (lol). Stay positive, this is the one of the greatest things we could do for health. I will see you on the losers bench!!

Nope u r not allowed to back out on me now. We are all going in tomorrow to get our new sleeves! Yes I have doubts and yes I do not really know what to do with myself today. We all have fear of failing because it has happened before. I told my husband that I was afraid it would work for everyone else but me. He asked me what I intended to do to make it fail.... Not what I needed to hear and not what I meant when I said that. So now I intend to make it work no matter what...

Almost all of us go through this stage where we second-guess our decision and question the surgery. It is normal to feel this way. Don't let it get you down! Just breathe through it and keep in mind all the GOOD things that will happen in your new sleeved life.

Guest Rosalind

I have said the same thing many times but I realize I need to resolve my weight issues once and for all. I am in my 5th month of my supervised diet and this is the first time on any diet I feel in control. My doc put me on a well rounded diet. I have decided to finish the coarse however. My 6th visit will be in early August because I found out today that I have a pinched nerve that must be surgically relieved prior to wls.......Oh the disappointment! But I will do what I have to!

My knee doc says I need to lose weight to relieve my knees. So......I am joining the loser's bench!!!

Thank u all for the support. Just had a long productive cOnversation with my husband and for the first time feel a ton of support and that he really does understand the changes fixing to take place in my life..... He says I am a lot more at peace about it than he but he supports my decision. Will be headed to hospital at 500 in am.....

Good luck, Mommyto2! I think the last minute doubts is normal. I remember wanting to change my mind during all four times I gave birth to a child -- it happened right about 30 minutes before the actual birth. LOL! I just wanted to leave my body to do the work and go away some where else. :)

My husband asked me something very similar. I've told him that I've done it. I can lose the weight. My problem is keeping it off. I haven't been below 200 pounds since 2005. I haven't been able to get there on my own.

See you on the loser's bench!

Good luck and I am sure you will be just fine!

BTW, I change my mind about 10 times a day, good thing it will be awhile before I can get the surgery.

Hope everything went well today. My husband wasn't that supportive either, even up to the night before surgery, but I had to keep my resolve that this is what I was doing. He was incredible the morning of surgery and ever since.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
